Bed and Breakfast Description

Stody Hall is set on a hill overlooking a delightful stream that flows into the River Glaven. A manor house has been on this site for over 500 years and is considered to be of historical interest along with St Mary's church directly opposite, one of Norfolk's better preserved Saxon round towered buildings. Andrew and Miriam Rawlinson were born in Norfolk. Andrew worked in the film and television industry for over 30 years and Miriam is the eldest daughter of a well-known Norfolk farmer. They bought the hall in 1970.

The interior is beautifully presented and extremely comfortable. It has been fully and sympathetically restored and is decorated in a classic English Country House style. The mature grounds feature a sheltered, walled in garden and croquet lawn.

Melton Constable Attractions

This area of Norfolk is like no other, there are pretty little churches, tiny winding lanes, and pantiled flint cottages. Stody is less than ten minutes drive from the sea. Whether your interests are National Trust properties or stately homes, wildlife, churches, golf, walking, sandy beaches, riding or just relaxing, this part of Norfolk appeals to everyone. From the historic Blickling Hall, past the cliffs at Weybourne, to the wide sands of Holme in the west, the countryside of North Norfolk provides a rich variety of places of interest.

The North Norfolk Coast is famous for its wildlife. It's unique wetland environments are a great attraction to both birdwatchers and enthusiastic walkers. There are mile upon mile of nearly deserted expanses of sand, marsh and dunes, that are part of the designated Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The seemingly endless open sands of Holkham offer a wonderful environment for riding under one of the widest skies imaginable. A perfect antidote to all the stresses of the modern world.

One of the many highlights available in this magical part of the country is an evening carriage drive with Miriam through the quiet countryside. Stabling is available and riders are spoilt for choice with over 10,000 acres of parkland riding and miles of outstanding beaches. From Blakeney, through Burnham Overy Staithe, to Brancaster, sailors can choose from some of the best sailing in the east of England. The seals at Blakeney, and boats available for charter are just two of the rich variety of pursuits that this extraordinary coastline has to offer.
