Sheringham Attractions |
| |
Sheringham lies at the bottom of a basin. Sea on one side and completely surrounded by woods, which cover the Sheringham ridge left over from the ice age. All woods are open to the public with the majority being National Trust. This ensures there are delightful coastal, inland and woodland walks. Sheringham is a town of charm and character, just right for summer holidays and short breaks. In fact it's great whatever time of year you visit and we think even better when you stay at Camberley.
Within easy reach are many unspoiled seaside towns and quaint country villages. Historic Houses are a plenty with Royal Sandringham, the National Trust properties of Blickling and Felbrig and the magnificent Holkham Hall estate. Enjoy a visit to the City of Norwich just 25 miles away or a day on the famous Norfolk Broads. Choose to walk one of the many footpaths and circular walks through Norfolk's coast and countryside.
Blakeney and Cley bird watching centres are but 8 miles away. Many birdwatchers make Sheringham their base, combining their ornithological pursuits with the facilities offered by the Town. Coupled with this is Sheringham and Beeston Common. This site of Special Scientific Interest (SSI) contains a vast amount of rare flora and fauna. The orchids are abundant and diverse. To such a degree that it is now rated as one of the rarest parts in the whole of Europe and has been made a Special Area of Conservation. (SAC).
There are excellent facilities nearby for fishing, whether by boat, from the beach or inland fresh water. Several golf courses, notably Royal Cromer and Sheringham, offering splendid links golf at reasonable green fees.Tennis, both hard and grass courts. Horse riding, lessons or trekking. Bowls, many rinks in the area to choose from, both indoor and outdoor. |
