Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Bay Tree Cottage is the family home of Paul and Sarah Hughes, in the market town of Fakenham, north Norfolk. We provide friendly and comfortable accommodation which we believe combines high quality with great value for money. Bay Tree Cottage is non-smoking throughout.

Guests have a well-appointed en suite room, with a TV with DVD and radio, as well as tea and coffee-making facilities. The room is quiet and overlooks our attractive garden to the countryside beyond. We have a second room available for children. This has twin beds and a cot for a baby or toddler (and we can often baby-sit by arrangement). We offer a choice of cooked or continental breakfast, included in the price. We also provide evening meals by prior arrangement, or there are several restaurants and an excellent fish and chip restaurant in Fakenham. Access into the house is unfortunately not particularly wheelchair-friendly, and the bedrooms are upstairs.

 

Fakenham Attractions

 
The North Norfolk coast is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The varied landscape includes sand dunes and salt marshes, downlands, woodlands and heath, with many beautiful villages. Fakenham itself lies just outside the AONB but is an excellent base with good roads for exploring the whole of north Norfolk. It is a friendly and unpretentious town, with a thriving market and country auction every Thursday.

Cyclists, birdwatchers, walkers, sailors and photographers all enjoy the area and many return again and again. We are or have been active in all those hobbies and would be happy to advise newer visitors - we also have guide books and maps for you to borrow. Finally, for parents, within a few hundred yards we have a (shallow) river with ducks and chickens for the children to feed.
