Bed and Breakfast Description

Ashley House Hotel Harrogate offers you a warm welcome, personal and friendly service in an informal atmosphere in which you can relax and enjoy your holiday or business trip. Excellent value for money in the serviced accommodation sector. This Harrogate hotel has 18 en-suite bedrooms, a dining room where breakfasts are served, and a cosy residents' lounge.

All 18 bedrooms are en suite and are equipped with hospitality trays, radio/alarm clocks, direct dial telephones and colour televisions. Hairdriers and a range of complimentary toiletries, adequate wardrobe space and desks / dressing tables are standard. Each bedroom has guest-controlled central heating. All bedrooms are non-smoking. Two bedrooms are situated on the ground floor for those with mobility difficulties. Our Superior Rooms are much larger than the Standard Rooms and are generally fitted with baths and, in some instances, bath and shower. They can be configured as double rooms or twin rooms. One converts to a family room. All offer a high level of comfort to the discerning guest.

The bar has a Scottish and golfing theme to complement the selection of single malt whiskies. Opening times are from 17.00 to 22.30 throughout the year but the bar will generally remain open to groups until the small hours of the morning. The whisky selection usually comprises over 100 single malts and another 30 or more blended and deluxe whiskies.

Harrogate Attractions

The outstanding natural beauty of the Harrogate District comprises over 500 square miles of glorious North Yorkshire landscape. The market towns and Dales villages throughout England's floral district each have their individual flavour and combine with historic houses, castles and abbeys, unforgettable parks and gardens and other well-known attractions to offer a unique package.

North of Harrogate, the medieval city of Ripon with its fine Gothic cathedral simply exudes history -- aptly manifested in the 1100-year-old tradition of horn blowing, carried out each evening in the market place. Nearby are the monastic ruins of Fountains Abbey, set in the superb grounds of Studley Royal and boasting World Heritage status. Explore the magnificent gardens and the lovely 18th century Adam house at Newby Hall or spend a day at Lightwater Valley Theme Park.

Westward, amid breathtaking scenery, lies the Nidderdale market town of Pateley Bridge. On its horizons you will find the strange sandstone formations of Brimham Rocks and the subterranean wonderland of Stump Cross Caverns.

The river Nidd snakes eastwards through the district, passing the village of Ripley with its dominant castle, on to the picture-postcard beauty of Knaresborough where rowing boats and punts grace its rippling waters below the olde world town situated high above.

Masham, gateway to Wensleydale, is a short run from Harrogate and features craft shops and tours of both Theakstons and the Black Sheep breweries. Step back to Roman times when you visit remains at Aldborough near Boroughbridge. A trip to the Jorvik Museum in York brings the Viking invasion to life. York is easily reached from Harrogate by train and affords shopaholics and history buffs alike endless opportunities to indulge themselves. Not forgetting the famous York Minster, York also offers a day out at the races, a cruise on the Ouse, numerous eateries and theatres.
