Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Sinnington Common Farm is set in beautiful countryside on the edge of the North Yorkshire moors in Ryedale. The cottages have been sympathetically converted from farm buildings but most of the original buildings have been retained and are still used for farming purposes. Some of the buildings are up to 300 years old and swallows return to them each year flying in and out of the buildings all summer long.

The ground floor accommodation adjacent to the farmhouse comprises one double and one twin room (2 extra beds for children available). Each room has its own separate outside entrance so guests can come and go freely. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed with colour TV, en-suite bathroom with bath & shower, radio clocks, comfortable chairs and a kitchenette with fridge and microwave. The double room has recently been refurbished and has a shower and whirlpool bath. The rooms have uninterrupted views of open countryside and overlook a paddock where ewes and lambs often graze. Meals are served in the farmhouse dining room (special diets are catered for by arrangement) The area has an abundance of pubs and restaurants serving good quality food.

 

York Attractions

 
You are welcome to bring your pet and we have a picturesque farm walk with wildlife to see including foxes, hares, deer, curlews, partridges, skylarks, lapwings, herons and pheasants. The farm has an environmental friendly policy to encourage wildlife and our animals graze happily on land free from chemical fertilisers and sprays. Now included in our farm walk is a track which follows our tree-lined beck round a field of Short Coppice Willow, which will provide green energy to Drax power station. The willows were planted in 2008 and will be cut back February-March 2009, then left for three years to mature before being harvested. Another green scheme in the offing is a wind turbine which will provide electricity to the holiday cottages and farm, with any surplus exported to the grid.

Directions to our farm: from the roundabout at Kirkbymoorside on A170 continue 1 mile towards Pickering take theright hand turn signposted Great Barugh, Normanby and Marton. The farm is 1 mile along this road on the left-hand side. For the small cottages you need the entrance after the bungalow, "Bruno's Lodge" and Penny's Place" are clearly named. The farmhouse is the next entrance.
