Bridlington Attractions

The villages of Bempton and Buckton form the Parish of Bempton about 4 miles north of Bridlington near the North Sea coast and Flamborough Head. The village is well known for Bempton Cliffs which is an RSPB Nature Reserve, best known for its breeding seabirds, including Northern Gannet, Atlantic Puffin, Razorbill, Common Guillemot, Black-legged Kittiwake and Fulmar. The parish Church of St. Michael is a Grade II listed building. Bempton also has a post office and general store, a garage, a hairdressers, antique shop and village hall. The White Horse Public House has a distinctive blue tiled roof. Our neighbouring village of Buckton has an art gallery exhibiting the work of local watercolour artist Richard Burton. Also there is the well known Silversmith Jacqueline Warrington who runs courses and workshops in jewellery making from her studio.

Flamborough Head is a Special Area of Conservation and has two lighthouses, one built in 1674 and one New. Around the headland you will find may coves and caves to explore. There is also North & South Landings, Danes Dyke and Thornwick Bay. Bridlington is a traditional seaside town with 2 glorious beaches, an old working harbour, promenades and the newly refurbished Spa Theatre with lots of shows all year round. In the Old Town (used to film the TV series ‘The Royal’) there are many art galleries, antique shops & restaurants. Nearby Bridlington Priory has several carved mice by the late Mr. Robert ‘Mouse Man’ Thompson of Kilburn. From the harbour you can take a boat trip on the Yorkshire Belle around the headland and view the birds and cliffs from the sea. The RSPB do puffin cruises and shearwater cruises at certain times of the year.
