Brookwood Farm is set in 18 acres of ancient meadows for you to explore. Count more that a dozen different species of wildflower in less than 100 yards, wander around the remains of overgrown furnaces left behind over 150 years ago by Victorian iron masters. Walk the banks of the Murk Esk bordering the land, where brown trout dart about. Why not cast a line and try your luck under the reproachful eye of the resident heron. At Brookwood Farm we feel we have captured the timeless tranquility of the countryside without sacrificing 21st Century luxuries. Our three bedrooms have double beds, ensuite bathrooms, tea and coffee making facilities, and each room has a period atmosphere.
The blue room is situated on the ground floor. Our local blacksmith, David Stephenson, hand-crafted the wrought iron four-poster bed. The Victorian bathroom is charming and has an old fashioned type shower. The gold room is situated upstairs with views overlooking the valley and woods. This popular room has a window seat where the beautiful view can be enjoyed in comfort. The green roomis both relaxing and peaceful, and just the place to forget those cares and worries. The well-equipped bathroom has a bath, shower and bidet.
We have been with the Tourist Board for 6 years and always received a grading of 4 Diamonds and a Silver Award, but for several reasons we have decided to 'go it alone'. Needless to say, this does not mean our standards will drop. We choose these standards for our home. We like it like that and know that our regulars do, too. So just because we no longer have the logos does not mean we no longer have the quality that goes with them. |
