Bed and Breakfast Description

Brookwood Farm is set in 18 acres of ancient meadows for you to explore. Count more that a dozen different species of wildflower in less than 100 yards, wander around the remains of overgrown furnaces left behind over 150 years ago by Victorian iron masters. Walk the banks of the Murk Esk bordering the land, where brown trout dart about. Why not cast a line and try your luck under the reproachful eye of the resident heron. At Brookwood Farm we feel we have captured the timeless tranquility of the countryside without sacrificing 21st Century luxuries. Our three bedrooms have double beds, ensuite bathrooms, tea and coffee making facilities, and each room has a period atmosphere.

The blue room is situated on the ground floor. Our local blacksmith, David Stephenson, hand-crafted the wrought iron four-poster bed. The Victorian bathroom is charming and has an old fashioned type shower. The gold room is situated upstairs with views overlooking the valley and woods. This popular room has a window seat where the beautiful view can be enjoyed in comfort. The green roomis both relaxing and peaceful, and just the place to forget those cares and worries. The well-equipped bathroom has a bath, shower and bidet.

We have been with the Tourist Board for 6 years and always received a grading of 4 Diamonds and a Silver Award, but for several reasons we have decided to 'go it alone'. Needless to say, this does not mean our standards will drop. We choose these standards for our home. We like it like that and know that our regulars do, too. So just because we no longer have the logos does not mean we no longer have the quality that goes with them.

Whitby Attractions

Just 100 yards down the lane you will find the unchanged charm of the Birch Hall Inn, our local pub owned and run by Glenys and Neil. They have a fantastic range of guest beers, all worth trying again and again!

Walking is a must whilst in Beck Hole. There are plenty of local walks from a gentle stroll to a good long and challenging hike over moorland and through woods. There are two waterfalls in the area and a vast array of flora and fauna to spot whilst on your travels.

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is a step back in time. Spend the day riding on old steam trains linking Grosmont to Pickering. The railway line winds through some of the most stunning scenery in the UK and you can catch the train just up the road in Goathland.
