Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Guiness House is a modern, family-run Bed and Breakfast in the heart of the rolling County Down countryside. Just an hour’s drive from both the International and George Best airports, and forty minutes away from the Belfast docks, Guiness House offers convenience, nestling between the majestic Mourne Mountains and the rugged slopes of Slieve Croob.

There are two double rooms and one twin. All our rooms are en-suite. One of the double rooms is on the ground floor. All the rooms have breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. We offer two night weekend or midweek breaks.

 

Ballynahinch Attractions

 
The nearby small towns of Newcastle, Castlewellan and Ballynahinch offer a wealth of gourmet and family dining, from award-winning restaurants to casual gastro-pubs. There are regular Irish traditional music sessions in some of the local pubs – where the ‘craic’ is mighty! Or if you prefer a quieter evening, why not take a short drive to local beauty spots such as the ancient Legananny Dolmen. Historical Downpatrick, with its cathedral, Saint Patrick’s grave and Down Museum is a short, scenic drive away.

Guiness House is the ideal base for exploring the stunning Mourne countryside by car or, for the more energetic, by bike or even on horseback. Cycle hire and pony trekking are available in nearby Castlewellan. Of course, the mountains are a famous walker’s paradise. Join in the annual Walking Festival or go it alone – and come back and relax in the comfort of Guiness House.

From Exit Castlewellan on the A25 Downpatrick/Belfast Rd, turn left in Annsborough taking the sign B175, signed Drumkeeragh Forest 7 miles. Drive 3.4 miles to the T junction and from there take a left. Drive 2.5 miles and take a left into Guiness Rd, Guiness House is the cream house on the LHS.
