Bed and Breakfast Description

 

The Prince Bishop's Guest House is a small County Durham guesthouse in Bowburn, near to the A1(M). Regular Guests include Tourists, Business people, Golfing Enthusiasts and many other visitors. All rooms have their own Hospitality Tray, including Tea and Coffee Making facilities and ensuites. Ironing Board, Iron and Shoe Cleaning equipment available on request.

 

Durham Attractions

 
Beamish Open Air Museum
One of the countries top attractions containing real buildings from days gone by. Main attractions include a mining town, railway, farm and town square. Popular with all ages and likely to bring back memories for older visitors. A popular feature with visitors are the victorian trams and buses, both electric and horse drawn.

Durham Cathedral
Over 900 years old and one of the premier attractions of Durham City along with the Castle which now forms Durham University. Containing many famous and valuable items including the remains of St Cuthbert and Bede, it is one of the most beautiful buildings in England and part of a World Heritage Site.

Mount Oswald Manor & Golf Course has perhaps one of the most pleasant and mature golf courses in the area. The full eighteen hole, semi wooded course, is popular with many seasoned golfers, yet it is not too daunting for the less experienced. The Prince Bishop's Guest House have secured a special offer from Mount Oswald Manor, which is located close by in Durham City. Customers of the Prince Bishop's Guesthouse will be charged at the 'Over 12 in Party' rate irrespective of numbers playing.

The Guesthouse is very easy to get to by either car or bus. It is near to the A1 Motorway, Junction 61 and is on a very good bus route.

Driving from the A1(M):
Head north on A1(M) toward Exit 64 0.1 mi
At junction 64, exit onto A195 toward Birtley/Washington 0.5 mi
Take the exit 0.1 mi
At the roundabout, take the 4th exit onto the A195 ramp 0.2 mi
Merge onto A195 0.1 mi
Merge onto A1(M) via the ramp to Durham 11.5 mi
At junction 61, take the A177 exit to A688 0.2 mi
At the roundabout, take the 4th exit onto A177/Durham Rd heading to Bowburn/Peterlee
Destination will be on the right 0.3 mi
