The Aquarius Guest House is well furnished and well maintained as you'll see...The Aquarius guest house has rooms to suit all needs. These include: Single Rooms, Double Rooms: Double Bed + 1 Single Bed, Triple Room: 3 Single Beds & Family Rooms: Double Bed + 2 Single Beds.

We have a spacious dining room offering traditional English breakfasts. Vegetarian diets can be catered for prior to notice. As well as our traditional English breakfast we also offer a menu which gives you the choice of breakfasts.

The Aquarius guest house is centrally located to the towns busy shopping centre, many pubs & clubs with a venue to suit people of all ages. The beaches are a renowned beauty spot and only a short walk along the famous Ocean Road with its many luxurious curry houses. Many of the towns other features include; Arbeia Roman Fort, local museum, leisure centre & loads more! The local transport including the popular Metro rail system gives you excellent access to Newcastle & Sunderland should you wish to broaden your horizons.

 

South Shields Attractions

 
There is a lot to do in South Shields, if the beaches and parks are not enough; there are amusement parks, Mini Golf, Water Sports etc. These activities provide great fun during the Summer breaks. Bands and concerts are also held during the Summer period to keep not only the children amused but also parents. At one end of Ocean Road there is a Theme Park, our famous "blue flag" beaches and family bars situated along the sea front. These are the main attractions during the Summer periods, as the parades start and run through the streets. Also there is a lot of entertainment next to the beach at the Ampe theatre. This includes live bands, children’s parties, fancy dress parties and fun & games. The Catherine Cookson festival is a famous tradition nowadays & attracts thousands of visitors each year.

Apart from shops, there is a museum, exquisite places to dine, Roman Fort, Bede’s World etc. The Roman Fort (Arbeia) isn’t far from the Guest House, it's only 5 minutes walk. This is a great tourist attraction, and amazes children each year when they visit. Every few months the mangers at the Roman Fort hold different events especially in the Summer. This helps to keep the children entertained. These events can include full-dress staged battles, chariot races, chariot building, story time, trek's back in time and also a day in the life of a soldier. These events usually last all day so children are amused and looked after. This keeps everyone entertained.

From the North:
From the A1 motorway leave the junction for Tynemouth, A19 Tyne tunnel and join the A19.Follow signs for the Tyne Tunnel. Continue on through Tyne Tunnel (have £1.10 ready for the toll booth). From A19 join the A185 Jarrow Road which is the 2nd exit. Turn left at Tyne Dock mini roundabout onto the A194 and continue following signs for South Shields town centre. As you enter South Shields, travel along the A194 dual carriageway where it's best to keep to the inside lane as the road veers left at one roundabout. Cross over the many rounabouts until you reach a large grassy roundabout where straight on is the 3rd exit. After the mini roundabout outside the Be Modern factory you'll see the Lord Clyde pub on the left & it's here you need to turn right so get into the right hand lane early. Turn right & you'll see WICKES as you go round the roundabout. Go up the slight hill where the Town Hall building can't be missed! Turn left at the traffic lights & follow the road round to the right into Beach road but keep over to the right lane here. Take the 1st left into Anderson Street (A183). Go straight over at the mini (painted) roundabout & down the hill. At the next roundabout turn right into Ocean road (Asda is on the left) turn right into Ocean Road. The Aquarius is the fourth Guest House on your left.
