Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Ideally situated within 2 miles of the main A1 trunk road between the old market town of Morpeth to the south and the medieval town of Alnwick to the north, allowing easy access to all the hidden treasures that Northumberland has to offer. All rooms are en-suite, some with excellent views over open countryside. So whether you travel for business or pleasure, you will find a warm welcome awaits you at Northumberland Cottage.

 

Morpeth Attractions

 
Northumberland Cottage makes an ideal base from which to visit the many attractions of Northumberland and the North East region. Though the locality is rural, peaceful and very quiet, the main A1 trunk road is only five minutes away, meaning that the whole of Northumberland, from Hadrian's Wall to the walled town of Berwick upon Tweed, from the Kielder water park to the adjacent spectacular coast and castles, are all within about an hour's drive. The city of Newcastle, with Gateshead's famous Sage music and culture centre are reached within half and hour, ideal for days out, or an evening's entertainment. Venturing a little further will open up the attractions of County Durham, with Durham City's famous medieval cathedral.

Birds, mammals, insects, amphibians and flora - Northumberland is singularly rich in wildlife owing the the widely contrasting nature of the terrain. It is a large county, extending from the wild moors of the North and West of the county, through rich agricultural land, to the cliffs, dunes and salt marshes of its spectacular coastline. In the south of the county, otters are on the increase on the river Blyth at Plessey Woods Country Park, and in the north of the county, on the river Till. Otters are also known to be near the coast at Creswell and Druridge Bay, both a short drive from Northumberland Cottage.

Take the ramp to Hexham/Jedburgh/A69/A696/Morpeth/A1 0.1 mi
Keep left at the fork to continue toward A167 and merge onto A167 1.9 mi
At Cowgate Roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto A167/Ponteland Rd
Go through 3 roundabouts 1.2 mi
At the roundabout, take the 4th exit onto the A1 ramp to City (North)/Morpeth 0.4 mi
Merge onto A1 18.4 mi
Turn right (signs for Acklington/Chevington Moor/Widdrington)
Destination will be on the left 1.9 mi
