Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Middle Holly Cottage was originally built as a coaching inn in 1820,has been tastfully refurbished to provide high quality accommodation with a warm and friendly atmosphere,as the name implies, the cottage was formerly the middle one of three public houses with the name Holly within ¾ of a mile of each other, on the then main road. The road was part of the main route North to Scotland, but with improvement of the A6 and the construction of the M6 it now has a quiet and peaceful outlook over countryside.

All rooms are en-suite with flat screen digital TV’s with freeview, refreshment facilities and complimentary WiFi internet connection. Catering for the tourist and business traveller alike, there is a large car park at the rear of the cottage.

 

Preston Attractions

 
A short distance from the cottage is a superb restaurants and a pub, all serving high quality food at reasonable prices. Lancaster University is only 5 miles away making it very accessible for parents visiting students. It is also convenient for academics visiting from around the UK and abroad.

Ideal for the port of Heysham,the Lake District and the Forrest of Bowland,a convenient stopover for guest traveling to/from the south to Scotland.

The cottage is situated on the main cycle route from Lands End to John O Groats.

Narrow boats can be hired on the Lancaster Canal or take a leisurely sail on a guided tour, enjoy the market town of Garstang with its weekly market (Thursday), explore the beautiful Forest of Bowland and Lune Valley. Visit the picturesque towns of Settle, Kirby Lonsdale, Ingleton Falls and the railway station of Carnforth - the location of the 1945 film ‘Brief Encounters’.

We are situated 2.8 miles south of M6 Junction 33 or 11 miles north of M6 Junction 32. Just off the A6, we are midway between the new Holly Inn (north) & Quattro’s (original name Old Holly) (south).

Driving from the M6:
Head northwest on M6 toward Exit 31a 15.2 mi
At junction 33, exit toward A6 0.1 mi
Continue straight 499 ft
At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto A6/Preston Lancaster Rd heading to Blackpool/Fleetwood/Garstang 2.8 mi
Sharp right at Middle Holly Rd
Destination will be on the left 0.1 mi
