Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Welcome to Byrdir House in the heart of Harlech. Ideally situated for Harlech Castle, the Royal St David's golf club and all that North Wales has to offer. Byrdir House is situated in the historic town of Harlech, on the edge of the Snowdonia national park with all of the beautiful countryside, historic monuments and breathtaking views associated with this part of North Wales. Byrdir House was originally built in the nineteenth century, we believe around 1890 by a sea captain for his private residence.

We have 5 comfortable rooms to meet most requirements, all En-suite , together with a bar and off road car parking for 6 cars. Our aim is to provide the highest standards to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

 

Harlech Attractions

 
Byrdir House is an excellent base from which to visit the wealth of attractions and places of interest in North Wales.

The Ffestiniog Railway is the Oldest Independent Railway Company in the World. On our trains you can travel by steam through the spectacular scenery of the Snowdonia National Park, between Porthmadog and Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Byrdir House is within easy travelling distance of Portmerion, used as the set for the prisoner TV series . Clough Williams-Ellis opened Portmeirion in 1926 to demonstrate how a naturally beautiful site could be developed without spoiling it.

Other Places of interest include Portmadog, the coastal resorts of Llandudno and Colwyn bay, Betws-y-Coed, Bala and Dolgellau.

Harlech is on the A496 and can be reached by road and rail. The main road routes are from the North via Chester, the East (M54) and the South either through Hereford and Worcester or from South Wales.
