Bed and Breakfast Description

 

We can trace the existing building back to 1806, but a public house is recorded as existing on this site in 1700. The pub today has two bars, a Lounge bar and a public bar and a large dining room and restaurant. The large garden at the rear has mature borders and offers a great space for relaxing with families in the summer, especially with the new childrens play area. The Patio to the left of our building brings an element of café culture to the village with continental style dining and socialising whilst watching the village pass by.

At The Three Tuns Hotel our philosophy is simple: We want to help you to enjoy yourself and we want to make you feel at home. Our rooms are comfortable but elegant and country living in their décor. The antique furniture has been collected by the current owners and fits perfectly with the style of the Pub and Hotel. The bathrooms fittings and furniture are high quality and modern but in a Victorian style to suit the rooms.

The Lounge bar is traditional in its décor and ambience and classical music is often played. The open fire, carpets and furniture add to the comfortable and relaxed feeling of this bar. The dining room and restaurant is at the rear of the lounge bar and seats 40 people. The restaurants large bay window overlooks the hotel garden and we believe the room was originally the pub’s smoke house with rows of hanging hooks still visible in the beams. The toilets are located in what was once the pub’s wine cellar.

The public bar is open plan and has bench seating throughout. It has a pool table, fruit machine and games machine. The bar has a lively and traditional community pub feel about it and events are held regularly. These vary from pool matches, sporting events to live music. Whatever your preference Lounge, Public, garden or patio you will be greeted by warm and friendly staff and an atmosphere that is conducive to a memorable and relaxed time.

 

Baldock Attractions

 
We are close to the towns of Royston, Baldock, Letchworth. Biggleswade and Hitchin. Ashwell is only 15 miles from the city of Cambridge and London is only 45 miles away by car. The main line station that runs to Kings Cross and Cambridge services Ashwell.

Hertfordshire is an increasingly popular place to live, and not just because of its close proximity to London. The county has so much more to offer other than a quick commute to our capital city. Hertfordshire really does has something for everyone, from beautiful estates and gardens, to animal parks, museums and wide open spaces. Here are some suggestions for a great day out in Hertfordshire:

Paradise Wildlife Park, Broxbourne - a great day out for all the family where you can get surprisingly close to all your favourite wild animals.

Walter Rothschild Zoological Museum, Tring - This unusual collection of animals and insects is well worth a visit. The giant anaconda is probably the highlight of the show although there is a great deal to see.

Knebworth House, Knebworth - one of the finest buildings in Hertfordshire and in recent times it has been the site of many huge music concerts.
