Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Meole Brace Hallis set amongst woodland walks, magnificent trees and ponds which offer a haven for birds and wildlife. The long drive flanked by sweeping lawns ensures seclusion and private parking. It offers peace and quiet and yet is only a mile from the town centre. A hard tennis court and outdoor swimming pool available by arrangement.

Joan Hathaway, AGA Cook of the Year 1997 / 98 and former Shropshire Cook of the Year, prepares a hearty breakfast which is usually served in the large and tastefully decorated dining room but our spacious conservatory is available on bright sunny mornings.

On arrival we offer our guests tea with homemade cake which can be served in the guests' sitting room, in the conservatory or on the terrace.

All our bedrooms are spacious and furnished to a high standard creating an atmosphere of comfort. Two of our rooms are en-suite and one of our rooms has a private bathroom.

All beds have electric blankets and the rooms all have Television, radio, tea / coffee making facilities, a refrigerator, hair dryer and bath robes. When you enter your room you will be greeted by flowers, mineral water and a basket containing all those useful odds and ends which tend to be left at home!

 

Shrewsbury Attractions

 
Shrewsbury offers a great deal to suit all tastes. There are many places of historical interest whilst keen shoppers can browse around the increasing number of individual shops, offering delightful ranges of products, which are just a bit different from the national chains which grace several shopping malls in the town.

Wander along the river or ride on the river or just sit in the Quarry Gardens, the spectacular centrepiece of the internationally acclaimed Shrewsbury Flower Show, and enjoy the views across to Shrewsbury School. Meole Brace Hall offers an ideal base to explore Shrewsbury and within half an hour's drive you will find numerous attractions - National Trust properties, Ironbridge Gorge, Ludlow and South Shropshire and of course it is the gateway to Wales.

Also available in the area is Golfing, Fishing, Hot-air ballooning, Hill walks, Bird watching, Horse riding and Gliding.
 

B&B Location
 
There is a large traffic island on the South side of Shrewsbury where the A49 from Church Stretton runs North to cross the new bypass. Whichever way approach Shrewsbury you can pick up the bypass and it will lead you to this island. Adjacent to it are Dobbies / Bayley's Garden Centre and a petrol station. We are less than five minutes from this island.

Directions from the island

Go North towards the town centre.
Go straight over a small island and passing Sainsbury's, McDonalds and the retail park, continue until you come to traffic lights and a large island.
Take the second exit over small bridge - Brooklands Hotel is on the left.
Take the second left (first is a No Entry) into Upper Road.
After Entering Into Upper Road
Carry on approximately 150 yards into one way system until you see a large white house on a bend to the right.
Turn left and right immediately (go down the left hand side of this white house) into Church Lane. You will see the church in front of and three white gate posts. Our driveway is between the left gate post and the centre one.

Directions From Town Centre

Leave town by the Welsh Bridge following road to the island.
Take the first exit and almost immediately take the left fork.
Go up Porthill Road until you reach an island - turn left into Roman Road.
Straight on at the next island - continue down hill past cemetery on left. Take first right into Upper Road and follow directions above...."After entering into Upper Road".
