Bed and Breakfast Description

The house was built by the famous Rothschild banking family in 1880 for their Estate Manager and has been restored over the last few years to its traditional state. The bed and breakfast accommodation is adjacent to the main house and has its own front door so guests can easily come and go as they please.

All of our rooms have been individually decorated and furnished with antiques of the period. We have two double rooms and one twin room and all are en-suite with both baths & power showers. Each bedroom has tea and coffee making facilities and a mini-fridge with fresh milk and complimentary mineral water. Other facilities include a hairdryer, clock radio alarm and a flat screen TV. The beds have high quality mattresses and the linen is Egyptian cotton.

During the week we serve a light & healthy breakfast which includes organic yoghurts, granola, muesli, lots of other cereals, heaps of seasonal fresh fruit, home-made compote, croissants, brioche, various other breads, locally made marmalade & preserves and fresh orange juice. On Saturdays, Sundays & Bank Holidays we also serve a full English breakfast which includes award winning sausages and eggs from our own chickens.

Tring Attractions

Rangers Cottage itself overlooks Woodland Trust land and is positioned directly on the Ridgeway Path, one of Britain's most historic and beautiful walks. The local village pub, The Greyhound, is a 5 minute stroll across the field from the house. There you can find a great selection of home-cooked food and good wines.

Just down the road in Tring is the Museum of Natural History, established by Walter Rothschild in 1892. The town also has a good selection of shops and there are swimming, golf, tennis & cinema facilities nearby.

National Trust land Ashridge Forest is 10 minutes away. Waddesdon Manor is a 30 minutes drive. Also close by are Pendley Theatre and Watford Palace Theatre, which offer a wide range of quality entertainment.
