Bed and Breakfast Description

 

With its orgins dating back to the 16th century, The Chequers provides the highest standards of modern comfort whilst still retaining its orginal charm.

The five en-suite bedrooms are cosy, comfortable and characteristically furnished, each having its own indivual personality.

The Chequers offers innovative cuisine using locally sourced fresh produce. A wide menu of European and British dishes is complimented by an imaginative wine list and traditional ales.

Behind the inn, the elevated woodland garden enjoys wonderful panoramic views to the west and acres of unspoilt woodland lead right up to Froggatt Edge.

The Chequers is a totally no-smoking environment and is open for lunch and dinner every day, serving all day on Saturdays and Sundays. Table reservations are advisable.

 

Hope Valley Attractions

 
The Chequers Inn is wonderfully situated for exploring the Peak District. Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are only a short drive away, as is the plague village of Eyam whilst the market town of Bakewell is well worth a visit, especially on Monday - market day.

Some of the country's best walking is here: you can take the path directly from the garden through woodland right up to Froggatt Edge, from where you can enjoy truly breathtaking views. You could wander through the beautiful village of Froggatt or opt for any number of walks nearby which vary from the very gentle to the seriously energetic.
