Conveniently situated a few minutes walk from the centre of Grasmere, Dunmail is an elegant bed and breakfast offering the very best in luxury accommodation. The whole house has an ambience of quality with all those little but meaningful touches that make the difference between average and something special.

All our rooms have uninterrupted views either towards Helm Crag and Easedale to the front of the house or over the garden towards Stone Arthur at the rear.

The gardens at Dunmail are something special with 360 degree views. We encourage our guests to sit and relax awhile in one of the varied seating areas and we are happy for you to enjoy your own aperitifs if you wish. Complementary tea or coffee on arrival are often served in the garden - weather permitting. Our delightful guest lounge, with an open fire in winter is a peaceful place to relax and enjoy the panoramic views.

Guest bedrooms offer the highest standard of comfort and luxury with a blend of tradition and high tech. From crisp white cotton linen, fluffy towels & Gilchrist & Soames pampering toiletries to wide screen t.v. & dvd and free wi-fi internet access.

Our award winning healthy or hearty breakfasts, your choice, are all served in our elegant dining room. All our food is always freshly prepared using local produce wherever possible. Our jams and marmalades are made here at Dunmail House using fresh fruit from the garden when available.

For anyone considering a stay in the beautiful Lake District Dunmail is an ideal place for both walkers and those wishing to tour or know more about the history of the English Lakes. Whatever our guests choose to do they can be assured of a warm welcome on their return to Dunmail.

Why not take a stroll through stunning surroundings along Grasmere Lake Shore or climb up to Loughrigg Terrace for spectacular views or visit Sour Milk Gill Waterfall, Easedale Tarn or Helm Crag (The Lion and the Lamb Rocks).

Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount the homes of William Wordsworth are very close by and here you can learn about the facinating history of the poet and his friends and the way of life in Grasmere during his lifetime.

Take a rowing boat out on the Lake or browse around the Grasmere shops and try the famous Grasmere Gingerbread.

Relax in our beautiful gardens or visit others that are situated all around the English Lakes.

Arriving from the South:
Leave M6 motorway at junction 36. Follow A590 into A591 past kendal, Windermere and Ambleside to Grasmere. Dunmail House is situated approximately 200m north of the Swan Hotel.
Arriving from the North:
Leave M6 motorway at junciton 40. Follow A66 towards Keswick. Join the A591 for Grasmere.
Dunmail House is situated on the A591 just past the Travellers Rest Inn on the edge of the village.

Nearest Railway Station: Winderemere  (12  Miles)
