Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Kay and Gordon Simpson would like to welcome you to "Appleby Guest House," built in 1898 for the Manager of Pleasley colliery. Appleby is situated close to the M1 and A1 on the edge of Sherwood Forest making it the perfect place to stay if you are visiting Mansfield, Sherwood Forest or surrounding areas, either working or just taking a break. A warm welcome and spacious surroundings await you at our most attractive Victorian house. Built within its own private grounds, it provides the perfect environment for relaxation, a home from home.

Appleby is very comfortable, quiet and competitively priced. It is family run and offers excellent bed and breakfast accommodation. The guest house is accessed via its own private drive, away from the main road. Ample car parking is provided adjacent to the house for convenience. All bedrooms are centrally heated and have TV, tea and coffee making facilities. Accommodation varies from single occupancy to family rooms - with En-suite facilities. The house stands in two acres of formal lawned gardens and is surrounded by large established trees. It is very spacious and peaceful were you can relax or take a stroll.

 

Mansfield Attractions

 
Chesterfield, Nottingham, Derby and Sheffield are within easy driving distance. Appleby is also particularly popular with guests visiting the Derbyshire Peak District due to its location and easy accessibility.

M1 traveling South
Exit at M1 J29 and take the second turn to the left at the end of the slip road sign posted A617 Mansfield. Keep on the A617 passing through "Glapwell" towards "Pleasley" and "Mansfield". Appleby Guest house is situated on the left just before reaching "Pleasley" and the start of a short dual carriageway leading to a roundabout.

M1 traveling North
The above route (M1 J29) is recommended, but should you wish to leave the motorway at M1 J28, directions are given below. Exit at M1 J28 and at the end of the slip road go around the roundabout towards the right, sign posted A38 Mansfield. Keep on the A38 Mansfield passing through numerous traffic lights until you come to a roundabout with McDonalds on the left. Go straight on over the roundabout A6075 towards a set of traffic lights (at traffic lights - Fox and Crown PH on left). Go straight on A6075 through the lights down to another set of traffic lights which joins a dual carriageway (at traffic lights - Petrol Station on left). At the traffic lights turn left A617 Chesterfield and head towards "Pleasley" in the direction of the M1 and Chesterfield. At "Pleasley" on the A617 you will arrive at a roundabout, go straight on over the roundabout, keep on the A617 and start moving over towards the right hand lane of the short dual carriageway. Appleby Guest House is on the right at the end of the short dual carriageway.
