Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Just off the A52 road, Risley Guest House is located in-between Nottingham and Derby - approximately 8 miles east of Derby, and 9 miles west of Nottingham. Originally part of the Risley Hall Estate, this property is now part of a 'greenbelt' conservation area - the large meadow nearby is home to an array of wildlife throughout the year.

There are four double bedrooms and two twin bedrooms, all of which are in a series of converted barns, adjacent to the main cottage. Each morning, breakfast is served in the main cottage's attractive conservatory. The bedrooms provide modern, comfortable accommodation whilst retaining the traditional character of the property - each features original internal wooden beams. Two of the rooms [Rooms 1 and 2] feature patio doors that open onto a sun terrace, and some bedrooms have views of the surrounding countryside. Daily complimentary Mineral Water, biscuits and magazines are also provided daily in guests' rooms.

 

Derby Attractions

 
Although it is very close to motorways and nearby cities, Risley benefits from a countryside location and a number of local footpaths can be used to explore the area. Maywood Golf Club, laid out on the woodland countryside surrounding Risley, is also on Risley Guest House's doorstep. There are many tourist attractions slightly further afield, including Chatsworth House and Dovedale, known as 'The Gateway to the Peak District'

Donnington Park Grand Prix Circuit is a short drive south along the M1. Many guests at Risley are in the area to see events at Donington Park, which range from motor racing to music festivals - particularly popular events include the 'Download' music festival in June and the 'track days', which feature car and motorcycle races. Erewash Valley Golf Club is 5 minutes away by car.

Nottingham, Derby and Leicester all have popular tourist attractions that are easily accessible from this location, which is close to the borders of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Leicestershire. These attractions include Nottingham's Robin Hood Experience, Derby's Cathedral, and Leicester's National Space Centre.

From M1 Junction 25 - Take the first exit after A52 Derby, signposted Risley and Sandiacre. At the crossroads turn left into Risley. Follow the road through Risley passing Risley Lower Grammar School on your right, and Risley Guest House is the last cottage on the left after the Risley Park public house.

From Derby or Nottingham - Follow A52 to M1 Junction 25 and follow the directions given above.
