Newark Attractions

There are many things to see and do in the area when visiting Shepherds Bush Farm.

Art on the Map is your introduction to the open studios and workshops of many of Lincolnshire's best artists and craftsmakers.

Batemans Brewery is one of the country’s oldest, just 4 miles from Skegness on the banks of the River Steeping. Based in an old windmill dating back over two centuries, definitely the most picturesque of breweries! A trip to the brewery is a great day out, take a fun tour around the Victorian brewhouse and the new brewhouse.

Belvoir Castle - Built in the 11th century by William the Conquerors standard bearer. It became derelict and fell into the hands of the Manners family – later Dukes of Rutland – in the 17th century. They rebuilt and added to it over the years, and in 1952 the family opened it to the public. Breathtaking views over the Vale of Belvoir and parklands. Fine period furniture and art collection with events all year in house & grounds.

The red brick market town of Bourne has been a settlement since Roman times and is reputedly the Saxon birthplace of Hereward the Wake. Strange earth mounds are all that remain today beside the fresh water of St. Peter's Pool. Red Hall, a fine Elizabethan mansion, stands near the centre of the town and the Abbey Church, founded in 1138, is one of the oldest remaining buildings.

Burghley House is the largest and grandest house of the first Elizabethan Age. Built by William Cecil, Lord High Treasurer to Elizabeth I, and still a family home for his descendants to this day. Eighteen State Rooms contain unique and important collections of porcelain, art, furniture and textiles. Specialist, general interest, evening or VIP tours available. Orangery Restaurant, Gift Shop, Sculpture Garden and Deer Park. Coach drivers and Couriers enter and eat for free.
