Coalville Attractions

North West Leicestershire has a range of attractions ranging from fine ancestral homes such as Calke Abbey, Staunton Harold and Melbourne Hall to 21st century attractions like Snibston Discovery Park and Donnington and Mallory Park race circuits. Also nearby is Bosworth Battle Field where Richard the 3rd was defeated by Henry Bolingboke and nearer still at Donnington le Heath is a fine example of a medieval Hall. And then there is Ashby de la Zouch with its ruined castle immortalised in Sir Walter Scot’s ‘Ivanhoe’ and the new National Forest with ‘Conkers’ its fascinating Visitor Centre. Not forgetting the beauty of Charnwood Forest and its Bradgate Park, the nostalgia of the Great Central Railway at Loughborough, the list goes on...

One of the delights(?) of modern life is the opportunity is to explore the shopping differing regions offer. Around Ravenstone there are numerous interesting shops and retail outlets. For example on the outskirts of the village is Beesely’s Garden Centre and tea rooms, while 5 minutes away at Heather is Cattows Farm Shop for fresh fruit and vegetables while at the next village, Packington is the Mushroom Basket – a retail counter offering a large range of Exotic and Wild Edible Mushrooms, both fresh and dried, produced and imported by Livesey Bros, the largest growers of Exotic Mushrooms in Europe based in the heart of the National Forest. And for those wanting an escape from retail therapy the Sustrans Cycle Trial 52 passes through the village close to Ravenstone Guest House making us an ideal centre to explore and enjoy the tranquility of the Sustrans trails in our area.
