Leominster Attractions

To the south lies the city of Hereford with its beautiful Cathedral, chained library and Mappa Mundi. There is also a market and wealth of unusual shops as well as many local high street stores. To the north historic Ludlow, with its Medieval castle, market and gourmet restaurants. June sees the Ludlow Festival in full swing including outdoor concerts and plays as well as dancing and special events. The famous Ludlow Food Festival is held in the castle grounds in September.

The picturesque village of Eardisland lies in the heart of Herefordshire, on the Black and White Trail, close to the Welsh border. It boasts two village pubs, both serving hot food, a tea room and gift shop, a rare 1920’s AA box and a Georgian Dovecote housing a free museum as well as the beautiful Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin. There are delightful walks around the village, along the banks of the River Arrow. Within easy reach are the Welsh hills and Offa’s Dyke, ideal walking country.

There are four National Trust properties in the area: Croft Castle, Berrington Hall, the Weir and Brockhampton, and numerous English Heritage sites within easy reach. Other interesting places to visit include Ross–on-Wye, Hay-On-Wye, (a must for book lovers), Elan Valley and Church Stretton.

Walking and cycling, for all abilities can be found close by, whether it be a gentle stroll along the river watching the swans to trekking up and down mountains! Farm shops, local food and cider tasting are in abundance. Why not try cycling along the cider trail?
