Hastings Attractions

Hastings Old Town can be found nestled in a valley between the beautiful East Hill with its Country Park and the West Hill with its romantic ruins of an old Norman castle. It is surrounded by steep cliffs and faces the sea from where in 1066 famously William The Conqueror and his men came sailing across the channel and set foot on British soil, changing English history and culture forever. Where once pirates and smugglers roamed, Hastings Old Town is now a bustling community with an amazing array of restaurants, ancient pubs, art galleries and quirky antique shops. It is also the home to Europe's largest beach-launched fishing fleet. Across the road at The Stade, fishermen today work as their ancestors did over 1000 years ago.

You can visit Hasting's St. Clements Caves to experience the smuggler's history and adventures as well as the castle ruins - up on the West Hill. Or you can walk for miles and miles along the cliffs through the beautiful and unspoilt Country Park - a national natural reserve that starts up on the East Hill - just a couple of minutes walk from the Cavalier House. Just across the road on The Stade you can visit the Fishermen's Museum and the famous Net Huts, as well as the exciting Bluereef Aquarium. Hastings Old Town also has an extensive amusement park with mini-golf, trampolines, go-carts and many other entertaining attractions for all tastes. And of course, right at its door step there are beautiful beaches and the ever fascinating sea.
