The Crown Inn Bedrooms:

Fotheringhay Room
The Fotheringhay Room is named after a nearby village where Mary Queen of Scots was beheaded at Fotheringhay castle. It has a super king size six feet wide double pocket sprung bed and large ensuite with bath and walk-in shower.

Nene Room
Named after the River Nene that flows through Elton and was reputedly the setting of the children's tale, “The Wind in the Willows”. Nowadays it is one of the most beautiful pleasure boating rivers in England and is popular with ramblers alike. There are two three feet pocket sprung twin beds, a luxury ensuite, compact Jacuzzi bath and walk-in shower.

Chestnut Room
This room is named after our ancient Horse Chestnut tree that towers over the front of the Inn and supplies an abundance of Conkers in the Autumn! It has a romantic Four Poster King Size bed and ensuite with bath and walk-in shower.

Elton Room
Named after the beautiful village in which the Inn is located. Views on to Duck Street and the Village Greens. It has a super king size mahogany Sleigh bed, ensuite bathroom with shower over bath and sofa bed to accommodate two children up to the age of 12 years.

Stamford Room
Named after the historic nearby market town of Stamford- famous for Burghley House and Horse trials held annually in September. It has a king size brass bed, ensuite with bath with shower over and a sofa bed to accommodate two children up to the age of 12 years. Located to the rear of the main building with village roof top and deck area aspect.

Other facilities in all rooms include Hairdryer, Tea and cofffee making facilities with fresh milk and mineral water, Flat screen TV with DVD player - a library of DVD is available, WiFi access and Ironing facilities.

 

Peterborough Attractions

 
Elton is arguably the most sought after village in Cambridgeshire. Flowing through the village is the River Nene.

Elton Mill and Lock is a short walk from the front door over the village greens. Just beyond are beautiful walks through meadows with an array of wildlife. Footpaths are clearly marked.

Also in the village of Elton are the shop and Post Office found on Middle Street. There is a hairdressers, garden centre with a cafe, The Black Horse Pub and also the Loch Fyne fish restaurant. The famous Elton Hall is open to the public on certain days and more information can be found on their website.

There are some beautiful villages nearby and the ancient market town of Oundle is a 10 minute drive West. Oundle, like many other villages and towns in England, was originally a trading place and market for local farmers and craftsmen. As the area became more prosperous, wealthy traders set up shops and houses, and guilds were formed. A document dating from 638 refers to Oundle as the site of an hospitium, a building used by monks to give shelter and assistance to travellers. Oundle is also home to the well known public school.

To the east of Elton, Peterborough is a 15 minute drive and has large departments stores and businesses as well as a beautiful Cathedral, Greyhound racing stadium, outdoor swimming pool and main GNER rail connections to Edinburgh (3 hours) and London (45 minutes).
