Bed and Breakfast Description |
| |
|
A lodging house since Georgian times, this interesting and quirky establishment has offered rest, relaxation and spectacular sea views to Eastbourne's visitors for over 170 years. Today's guests will enjoy additional modern amenities such WiFi and power showers, but we hope our old-fashioned hospitality will also sustain you and enhance your stay with us. Our substantial continental breakfasts are delicious. Real ground coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, a selection of organic yoghurts, cereals, seeded breads and just-baked croissants, homemade fruit salad ... we believe you'll be impressed.
All bedrooms are individually styled with comfortable beds and crisp, white 100% cotton bedding. They all have private facilities with modern power showers and constant hot water. Each room also has a flatscreen television with Freeview channels, radio alarm clock and hairdryer for your convenience. Most of our rooms have spectacular direct sea views and every room has a hospitality tray with complimentary tea and coffee making facilities. Bathrooms are fresh and modern with heated towel rails, shaver points, fluffy white towels and the Elsyl range of complimentary toiletries.
At the Royal we love animals and operate a pet friendly policy. Please contact us in advance if you wish to bring along your four-legged friend. We'll be happy to provide dog food, feeding bowls and blanket/bed for your dog. Special doggy diets are also catered for. All we ask is that you do not allow your pet to sleep on the bed and that he/she is well-behaved and does not disturb other residents. To maintain high standards of cleanliness and for the protection of your pet as well as yourself, we thoroughly clean each pet friendly room between visitors, using specialist cleansers and flea sprays. Dogs currently stay free of charge (applies to one dog per room) and we have a full dog-sitting service availble. We regret that The Royal is unsuitable for children younger than 12 years. |

Eastbourne Attractions |
| |
In June 2008, Eastbourne gained the prestigious Blue Flag quality award for the fifth year running. The award recognises the town's clean beaches and excellent seafront facilities. With an average of 34.6 hours of sunshine a week, the resort was also named the sunniest place in Britain by the Halifax Quality of Life Survey 2007. And Eastbourne has far more to offer than sea and sunshine. There are first class shopping facilities, museums, theatres, cinemas, restaurants, pubs and a buzzing nightlife. Eastbourne also marks the start of the South Downs and the 100 mile-long South Downs Way, a popular and relaxing route for walking, cycling and bird-watching holidays. If the fresh sea air inspires you, you may like to take a gentle cliff-top walk along the impressive white cliffs, of which Beachy Head is the most famous. The highest chalk sea cliff in Britain, Beachy Head rises 530 feet above the sea below and is well worth a visit. Beyond Beachy Head is the Seven Sisters country park, an ideal destination for nature lovers. Or how about a gentle round of golf? Eastbourne itself boasts three golf courses, with no less than six more within easy travelling distance. |

B&B Location
|
| |
From the M25, take the M23 towards Brighton. Just before Brighton take the A27 going east, sign-posted Lewes/Worthing. Follow the A27 towards Lewes and carry straight on to Eastbourne. As you approach Eastbourne, follow the signs to the seafront. When you get to the seafront continue towards the Pier. We are just before you reach the Queen's Hotel and the pier.
There is Pay and Display parking along all the seafront (Marine Parade) across the road from the hotel, though if all seafront places are taken, it's worth turning in to nearby side streets (Marine Parade Road/Colonnade Road is just before us, Queens Colonnade Gardens just past us), as there are usually spaces to be found within a two-minute walk. The Royal will provide you with a free parking voucher.
Eastbourne train station is a 10-minute walk or short taxi ride away. If walking, follow signs down Terminus Road to the seafront, turn left towards the pier, carry on past Queen's Hotel and we are a few doors down on Marine Parade. Bus number 27 from Brighton stops outside the pier, less than one minute's walk away.
