Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Glengennet, a former shooting lodge, was built during the 1890's in the upper Stinchar valley near the conservation village of Barr. Built of whinstone, the house retains many original features and provides an ideal setting for a relaxing holiday in south west Scotland. Now a 500 acre farm rearing Scottish blackface sheep, we have 2 guest bedrooms which are spacious, comfortable and tastefully decorated, including easy chairs, hairdryer, and tea/coffee making facilities. The lounge/dining room (with TV for guests' use) has glorious views over the garden.

 

Girvan Attractions

 
Set in peaceful unspoilt countryside overlooking the Galloway Forest Park Rolling hills where you can relax and enjoy Walking & Cycling. Places to visit include The Ayrshire coast, Culzean Castle (the most visited National Trust property in Scotland), Glentrool Country Park, Burns Cottage (home of Rabbie Burns) & Burns Monument at Alloway (near Ayr) less than 20 miles away. There are also many interesting gardens which are particularly colourful in May & June with rhododendrons and azaleas. Boat trips can be taken from Girvan to Ailsa Craig (a dormant volcano arising from the sea). A day trip to the Isle of Arran is another option (Ardrossan ferry terminal is 40 miles away). Stranraer (ferry to Northern Ireland) is only 45 minutes away.
