Your hosts Richard and Yvonne would like to welcome you to their excellent bed and breakfast accommodation which is situated in an elevated position near to the centre of Gairloch on the west coast of Scotland. Our guest lounge and dining room have magnificent sea views across Loch Gairloch towards the Isle of Skye and the Western Isles, a superb panorama with which to start and end your day. Gairloch View has 3 letting bedrooms, 2 double rooms and a twin room. All 3 bedrooms are en-suite and have tea/coffee making facilities. Hairdriers are also provided in each room. Our Guest Lounge and Dining Room have magnificent sea views across Loch Gairloch towards the Isle of Skye and the Western Isles.
Gairloch View Guest House has just that - a magnificent panoramic view! There is a very attractive patio area outside with seating. At Gairloch View we take a great pride in our cooking and always aim to provide you with wholesome freshly cooked food using locally sourced produce wherever possible. Breakfast is served in our guest dining room which has magnificent sea views across Loch Gairloch towards the Isle of Skye and the Western Isles. With this superb scenery as a backdrop you can enjoy a freshly cooked breakfast of your choice. We also offer evening meals and packed lunches by prior arrangement and can cater for special diets, also by prior arrangement. |

Gairloch Attractions |

Gairloch is situated some 70 miles west of Inverness, on the west coast of Scotland overlooking the Isle of Skye. It offers a wide range of shops, unusually for a place so small and comparatively remote, these including an award winning butcher and a very cosy book shop where you can spend hours perusing books and enjoying a lovely cup of coffee. You will also find a wealth of gift shops and picture galleries at the harbour along with the local post office and a branch of the Bank of Scotland (which has an Autoteller cash machine). Gairloch has a varied choice of dining establishments which offer local and not so local fare, with real ales from both Scottish and English breweries and more single malt whiskies than you can imagine.
The Golf Club in Gairloch has a 9-hole links course fringed by golden sands and enjoys wonderful views of the loch and surrounding areas. The photo above was taken from the dunes immediately adjacent to the golf course and shows the magnificent beach next to the course. This latter is a must, come rain or shine, a lovely sandy beach where sand castles can be built to your heart's content. Inverewe Garden, owned by the National Trust for Scotland (NTS), lies only 15 minutes' drive to the north up the coast from Gairloch. The gardens were established in 1862 and, despite being on a latitude more northerly than Moscow, they benefit from the warmth of the Gulf Stream and are home to a wealth of tropical plants and trees from around the world. This is a fine opportunity to see a whole host of different exotic species, enjoy the beautiful views over Loch Ewe from the various vantage points and visit the gift and plant centre and cafe. |

Gairloch is situated on the West Coast of the Scottish Highlands, some 70 miles west of Inverness. From the south, there are 2 possible road routes by which to approach.
Firstly, the more scenic but rather longer and slower route follows the A82 along the shores of Loch Lomond, across Rannoch Moor and through Glen Coe to Fort William; thence, continuing on the A82 north to Invergarry, and then via the A87 and A890/A896 to Strathcarron and Lochcarron. From there the route follows the A896 north through Shieldaig and Torridon to Kinlochewe and then finally the A832 north west along the side of Loch Maree to Gairloch. From Fort William onwards you will pass several famous landmarks on the way - the Commando Monument at Spean Bridge, Cluanie Inn, the 5 Sisters of Kintail, Eilean Donan Castle, the beginning of the spectacular road over the Bealach na Ba (Pass of the Cattle) to Applecross (which you could include in your itinerary if you wish and time permits) and Loch Maree.
Secondly, the somewhat faster and more direct route which quite simply takes the A9 north to Inverness, thence via the A9/A835 to Garve and then west on the A832 to Achnasheen, Kinlochewe and Gairloch. This route encompasses mostly good fast roads, although the A9 can sometimes seem frustratingly slow in heavy traffic.
For those wishing to travel here by air, Inverness Airport is some 77 miles from Gairloch and car hire is readily available either from the airport or from Inverness itself. The drive from the airport to Gairloch is comparatively easy, mostly on good roads, and normally takes less than 2 hours.
For rail travellers, there is a railway station at Achnasheen which is some 29 miles from Gairloch. There are local taxi and bus services operating in Gairloch.
