Bed and Breakfast Description

 

This establishment was designed to offer the visitor to Bristol a comfortable and convenient place to stay.

You will see from the photographs how the rooms are decorated and furnished, in, what is hoped, a calm and friendly environment. I hope you enjoy the tour around Bristol and the greenhouse and look forward to welcoming you here.

Since opening the greenhouse b&b in 2001, Southville, has “up-and-come”. The main street, North Street, has become a thriving area of good quality shops, cafe-bars, restaurants and coffee shops, all within 3 minutes walk of the greenhouse.

Located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in the older part of Southville, within walking distance of the centre of Bristol, the greenhouse offers an oasis of calm in an otherwise very busy and vibrant city.

This very comfortable establishment comprises four available bedrooms, one single, two doubles and one twin. All offer a modern en-suite shower room with constant hot water, tea and coffee making facilities, Freeview TV and radio alarm. Each room has thermostatically controlled central heating.

There is a young friendly west highland white terrier in residence.

The ground floor comprises a large open-plan area to take advantage of digital TV, DVD/video, hi-fi, and plenty of reading material.

Breakfast is taken in part of the large kitchen overlooking the enclosed garden at the rear of the property.

The greenhouse was completely modernised in 1998 giving the façade of a 19th century cottage with the interior of spacious 21st century proportions. The house was originally 2 cottages, one built in 1880 and the other in 1890.

The proprietor, having spent 25 years in interior design, has created a comfortable and calm space in which to relax in the centre of a bustling city.

 

Bristol Attractions

 
Bristol is the largest city of the West of England, offering a lovely Cathedral, the magnificent SS Great Britain and the Matthew, both moored in the floating harbour within 3 minutes of the greenhouse.

Bristol has a chequered history, having developed its wealth from the luxury goods (wine, tobacco and slaves) imported and exported through its harbour.

In modern times, Rolls Royce Aero Engines and British Aerospace have built their factories in the city.

Nowadays, Bristol boasts two fine universities, one of the best veterinary colleges in the country, a teaching hospital and a very good art school, so it is a young and vibrant city. There is plenty of night life for those music lovers out there, and some of the best restaurants in the West Country.
 

B&B Location
 
From Temple Meads station in the centre of the city, take the A370 west, turn left into Greenway Bush Lane and first right into Greenbank Road, at the right angled bend, go straight on into the cul-de-sac and the greenhouse is the last house on the right.

From the M5 south, take junction 18 and follow the A4 into the centre of Bristol. After driving under the Clifton Suspension Bridge, keep to the centre of the road and go up onto the fly-over. Take the first exit off the flyover (this is the third junction, the other two are inbound), join the main road A370 and take the 2nd right (Greenway Bush Lane) after the petrol station. Directions as before.
