Bed and Breakfast Description |
| |
|
During 2005, Pullington Barn was converted by the present owners to a very comfortable and attractive home with all its historical characteristics untouched. The Barn’s 28’ long central bay, formerly the threshing area, retains its original appearance with exposed timbers, a galleried upstairs landing and vaulted ceilings, with the addition of huge glazed french windows on both sides creating a stunning light and airy home. The doors face north and south: to the south they overlook a paved sitting out area surrounded by plants and flowers; and to the north, never-ending unspoilt views of orchards and the North Downs. There is plenty of parking space on the drive and as public transport is very limited, cars are essential.
There are two pretty beamed bedrooms available for B&B, one double-bedded room upstairs and one with twin beds on the ground floor. Both bedrooms are well furnished with antique pine or mahogany furniture and have either an en-suite bathroom or shower-room. The beds are comfortable with matching or co-ordinating duvet covers, feather pillows and good quality linen. Guests are invited to relax in the large and beautiful drawing room where there is a television, books, magazines, a grand piano and on occasions, an open roaring log fire. Breakfast is served either in the modern flag-stoned kitchen, or in the grand (threshing) hall or, weather permitting, in the south-facing garden. There is tea and coffee available and many excellent local pubs and restaurants for evening meals including 2 within easy walking distance of the house.
Benenden is an ancient village dating back to and noted in the Doomsday Book (1086) It lies between the picturesque market towns of Cranbrook and Tenterden. The beautiful old church, the village green for summer cricket matches, the bowling greens, the village grocery shop/post-office/tea shop and the two village pubs are all within easy walking distance of Pullington Barn.

The village is 25 minutes from Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and Maidstone; and 15 minutes from Staplehurst station with its fast and frequent train services to London.
