Set in the tranquil village of Ettrickbridge, close to the historic burgh of Selkirk, the Cross Keys Inn offers the perfect retreat for those wanting to explore this beautiful part of the country.

The Inn offers delicious food, fine wine, beer, real ales and 80 malt whiskies as well as Bed and Breakfast and Self-Catering accommodation. The Scottish Borders has an impressive history with castles and manors relating to prominent figures such as Mary Queen of Scots, Robert the Bruce and Sir Walter Scott all within easy reach. If you feel like a trip slightly further a field the famed Rosslyn Chapel (featured in Dan Browns "Da Vinci code") is also within striking distance. The bar has a unique olde worlde charm with the walls and shelves literally packed with curiosities, antiques and pictures with a cosy open log fire and a warm welcome within a relaxed atmosphere.

The five B & B en suite letting rooms located directly above the main inn provide an ideal base for people staying in the Borders. The Inn’s very popular double, single and family rooms are available all through the year, and all rooms have their own tea and coffee making facilities. The high standards at the Cross Keys were recently confirmed by the Scottish Tourist Board with a three star rating. To make your stay with us even more special why not request our four Poster room and relax in true style. Following a good nights rest you will be ready to explore the beautiful landscapes, after you have sampled our traditional Scottish breakfast.

 

Selkirk Attractions

 
The Scottish Borders offer some of the best fresh water fishing in Scotland at prices that will not break the bank. Come and fish for trout or salmon in rivers such as the Yarrow, Ettrick Water, Tweed and Teviot or why not give our many lochs and reservoirs a try. Trout fishing permits are available from the Cross Keys Inn and Salmon permits can be arranged upon request. Whilst staying at the Cross Keys Inn why not try your luck at fly fishing on the Megget Reservoir. Day Tickets are available at the Inn from £10 a day fishing from the bank and £30 a day with a boat, life jackets are provided. The Reservoir is well stocked with brown trout and the scenery is breath taking, and it's only 20 minutes from the Inn.

Glentress and Innerleithen in the Tweed Valley have a massive reputation for some of the best mountain biking in the UK and it's only 30 minutes drive from the Cross Keys Inn. Glentress is probably the best biking centre in Britain, with brilliant trails of all grades, a top-notch cafe, a bike shop with bike hire, changing and showering facilities, and a great atmosphere. Innerleithen, situated just a few miles south east of Glentress, is quite different from its better-known sister - away from the hustle and bustle, it's a venue for the more experienced rider.

The Scottish Borders offer some of the best value golf that you are likely to find anywhere. With the Freedom of the Fairways package and the number of 9 or 18 hole courses you can play, there can be no excuse for not having a golfing break. The Cross Keys Inn is an ideal base for such a break with most courses within a 30 minute drive.

From the South.
Head north towards Selkirk on the A7.
At Ashkirk (about 5 miles from Selkirk), turn left. There's a sign post to Ettrickbridge on the right and the road wideness.
After about 200 metres turn right up a hill.
Follow this road until you reach a T junction, then turn left.
Follow this road until you reach a T junction (the road splits in a V shape), then turn left on to B7009.
After about 2 miles you should arrive at Ettrickbridge.
The Cross Keys Inn is in the middle of the village on the right.

From the North.
Head south towards Selkirk on the A7.
At Selkirk turn right on to A707.
After about half a mile turn left on to B7009.
After about 7 miles you should arrive at Ettrickbridge.
The Cross Keys Inn is in the middle of the village on the right.
