Glasgow Attractions

As befits a city of Glasgow's international standing, there is a host of activities to enjoy and places to visit for all the family. Whether your desire is for artistic or historic culture, entertainment, sport, shopping, socializing or relaxation, Glasgow caters for every need and taste.

Glasgow boats many art galleries including work by Van Gogh and Rembrandt, among others, and offers some magnificent architecture from intricate Victorian buildings to ground-breaking modern design. Of course, visitors to Glasgow can marvel at the work of the city's greatest architect, the world renowned Charles Rennie Mackintosh, perhaps at Scotland Street School or the Glasgow School of Art. The city is also home to a range of museums, displaying everything from ancient Scottish battle-gear to artwork, dinosaur bones and old vehicles. From cathedrals to science centres, Glasgow is paradise for the culture lovers.

For those looking for something different, Glasgow features a number of large parks and gardens designed for a 'breather' from the commotion of city life. Beautiful and tranquil, each one is lovingly maintained to ensure the perfect environment for relaxing. Football runs through the veins of many Glaswegians, whether supporting their local side or the country's famous "Old Firm" of Celtic and Rangers. Both teams' stadiums and Hampden Park, the National Stadium, are short trips from the city centre. For those wishing to find other ways of spending their money, Glasgow is a renowned as the UK retail capital outside of London. Literally thousands of stores, malls, designer outlets and boutiques are crammed into the shopping districts of the city centre and west end.
