Bed and Breakfast Description |
| |
|
Swiss Court Guest House is an imposing, red sandstone fronted residence built in the late 1800’s. It was originally built for the Church as a Congregational Chapel, School and Ministers residence, and was named the Manse.
In 1931 the Church sold the Manse and it became a private dwelling house. The Manse is believed to have become a Guest house offering bed and breakfast accommodation around 1953 and had its name changed in the 1970’s to Swiss Court Guest House, which it has been ever since.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. We pride ourselves on serving you a top quality home cooked breakfast in our comfortable relaxed dining room.
Today’s Swiss Court Guest House is a centrally located four star establishment, offering a high standard of clean and comfortable accommodation. Our elevated position affords stunning views from all our rooms.
An ideal base for walkers, cyclists or for just simply relaxing, with Derwentwater and the beautiful surrounding fells only a few minutes away.
We have seven comfortable, tastefully decorated and coordinated en-suite bedrooms. We have family, double, twin and single rooms including a superior double, and a superior single.
All rooms have thermostatically controlled central heating, remote controlled colour television, tea and coffee making facilities, with complementary biscuits, radio alarm clocks and hair dryers. Our superior rooms have bath robes and extra little touches for your enjoyment.
All room have views of the Lakeland fells, from the front of the house you can see Cat bells, Walla Crag, and Causey Pike and many more along the Borrowdale valley. At the rear of house you can see Lattrig along with the Skiddaw range. The colour and light on the fells constantly change throughout the day, and for those of you who enjoy the awe of the Lakeland fells you will find yourself mesmerised by their beauty. |

Keswick Attractions |
| |
Keswick and the North Lakes offers a multitude of activities and events to cater for all tastes.
For the fit and active there is walking, climbing, biking, paragliding, horseriding, sailing, and the activity centres offer even more.
We have the wonderful Theatre by the Lake, and just a stroll from the Theatre brings you to Friar’s Crag, a beautiful spot which is popular with the romantics who wish to propose to their loved ones. Derwentwater is hailed as 'Queen of the Lakes', and is surrounded by some of the most magnificent scenery in the Lake District.
The Keswick launch cruises hourly around Derwentwater. There are six jetties, you can sail around the lake or stop off and enjoy a walk on the fells, to rejoin the launch to complete your journey.
Keswick has probably the best range of outdoor shops in the Lakes. We also have a diverse range of eateries, ranging from cafes, pubs, and restaurants including Thai, Italian, Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Steak House Grill and of course fish and chips.
There are two lovely Keswick Parks, Fitz Park has a Cricket ground voted "the most beautiful in England". It also has the bowls club, tennis courts, and putting green, and a lovely area near the river Greta to sit and watch the world go by.
Hope Park is enjoyed by many thousands of people every year, as you can walk through the park from town to the lake. There is an obstacle golf course with a Lakeland theme, just perfect for family fun. Plus an 18 hole putting course and a 9 hole pitch and putt course, all amongst the most magnificent surroundings.
Keswick has something to offer everyone with its natural beauty, to the activities which use the lakes and hills, to the galleries and cafes. |
