Bed and Breakfast Description

Cathedral Road is one of the grandest tree lined roads in and out of the city which is a beautiful conservation area. The hotel which was built in 1898 is spread over 2 victorian houses which retain their original features. Richard Burton attended elocution lessons in the lounge of No 151. There are many attractions within a 10 minute walk of the hotel whether it be a sporting event a trip to the theatre or even a shopping trip prior to taking in the finest culinary events from the Welsh Capital.

New owners took over the hotel in January 2006 and are completely refurbishing all bedrooms which will include tea, coffee facilities and flat screen televisions with over 30 channels to view and radio stations to listen too!

"Best Hotel" 1997, 1998. Winner of Cardiff in Bloom Super-Gardener. Category 1999.

The Abbey Hotel has 26 bedrooms ranging from a single room to large family rooms en- suite, all rooms have televisions and hospitality trays. Included in the room rate is a tradiotnal English breakfast or a choice of cereals.

There is a large secure car park to the rear of the hotel so you are able to lock your car away and enjoy the welsh hospitality whilst staying at the hotel.

During your stay there are various nights that you can sample some home cooking from a good curry to a chilli con carne for those who might prefer a quiet night in.

Fax Facilities are available and wireless internet access is available from certain rooms.

Cardiff Attractions

The Abbey Hotel is situated half way along Cathedral Road on the opposite side to Sophia Gardens and is just a few minutes from the castle and the main shopping centre. Those wishing to walk have a choice of either going along Cathedral Road, past the large turn-of-the century houses for which Cardiff is noted, or walking through the park and down the river path into town.

This walk affords views of the river with Bute Gardens on the far side and the County Cricket ground and National Sports Centre on the other. Those guests here for the major sporting events, will find that the Millennium Stadium is virtually on the Hotel doorstep.
