Bed and Breakfast Description

The Ferry House Inn is a beautiful 16th Century Country Public House situated at the edge of the Swale Estuary on the peaceful Isle of Sheppey. It is set in three acres of terraced lawns and offers a superb panoramic view over the water.

The Inn has recently undergone major refurbishment throughout with particular attention to retaining its old character and charm, by incorporating open log fires, traditional wooden beams and solid oak floors. In December 2005 we opened the doors to the new Barn Restaurant.

The Inn also has three double bedrooms and one twin bedroom, all beautifully furnished with en-suite facilities and offering visitors all the comfort needed for a perfect nights sleep. There is an extensive breakfast menu offering visitors the best start to their day!

All rooms have televisions and hot drink facilities. We can also offer other services such as fresh flowers in the room. Please ask staff when booking.

The Inn also offers a Corporate Rate for all rooms on request.

The restaurant has an extensive menu offering traditional fayre, specialising in fresh fish, steaks, and game, all locally produced. There is a superb range of home made desserts, and an extensive wine list. The restaurant is the perfect place to have your evening meal. The inn also has a bar menu available so guests can have lunch before or after their walk or birdwatching trip.

Isle of Sheppey Attractions

The Ferry House Inn runs a professionally set up clay shoot in partnership with a local company called Marden Clay Targets. Shoots are held every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month at our premises and everyone from beginners to younger children, ladies and corporate groups are more than welcome with all equipment and tuition provided.

We are only 10 miles from the RSPB Elmley bird reserve where Raptors, Owls, Avocets and many more have been sited. The reserve has five hides overlooking the scarpe and regardless of the time of year is full of activity.

The 'Seawall Walk', as featured in The Times, is just one of the many walks that is available on the Island. The walk incorporates St Thomas the famous Norman church, featured in the Doomsday book.

The Inn is also perfect for boating enthusiasts, with its own moorings. The Inn can act as a base for sailing around the Kent coastline. We can also offer the opportunity to sail on the Estuary on the Greeter, a Thames barge. Guests can be collected from the Inn and returned here following their trip.

The Inn is one hour from London meaning that our guests can enjoy the hustle and bustle of the capital for day trips or evening performances but escape back to the tranquil countryside described in The Times as, 'North Kent's remotest outpost.'

The Inn is 20 miles from Leeds Castle acclaimed to be 'The most beautiful castle in the world.' The historic city of Canterbury is also 20 miles offering sites such as the cathedral as well as good shopping facilities and places to eat. The Inn is also 40 miles from Ashford International station and the gateway to Europe, providing endless opportunities for day trips to Belgium or France.
