Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Primrose Cottage is a warm and friendly family run establishment. A typically English country cottage standing in approximately half an acre of landscaped gardens, tucked away in the tiny conservation village of Little Oakley. It is built of local stone and dates from around the 17c, although local historians believe it to be earlier as some of the foundations appear to be Norman and as the lovely 13c church of St Peters' is nearby this may well be true.

Our pretty twin room has two period single beds with the bedroom colour scheme predominantly pale blues. There is a small wardrobe and dressing chest with full length mirror to the wardrobe and vanity mirror to the chest. The room has a remote control colour television, hair dryer and tea and coffee making facilities. Our twin room has its own private bathroom which is directly next door. Guest towels and toiletries are provided for the duration of our guests visit.

Our comfortable en-suite double room has a Victorian double brass and iron bedstead with the bedroom colour scheme being beige and pink. There is a small fitted wardrobe with internal full length mirror and two period chests one with vanity mirror. Guest towels and toiletries are provided for the duration of our guests visit. The view from the front window of this room is of the cottage’s courtyard garden and the beautiful old Norman village church.

Breakfast is taken in our oak beamed dining room with Inglenook fireplace and wood burning stove.

All prices are inclusive of Full English range cooked breakfast, using our own chickens eggs, home grown vegetables and home made preserves.

 

Corby Attractions

 
Close to the historic market towns of Oakham, Uppingham, Market Harborough, Stamford, Peterborough and Oundle. Visit Rockingham Castle, Burley House, Kirby Hall and Boughton House. Fishing at Eyebrook Reservoir, Grafham Water and Rutland Water, where watersports, cycling and bird watching may be enjoyed. (Red Kites, once extinct in Britain but now reintroduced nearby in a breeding programme, can be seen almost daily soaring over our garden and fields surrounding our cottage) For the race lovers, Rockingham Speedway is only a five minute drive away.
