Bed and Breakfast Description

Situated on the Chatsworth Estate, in the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District National Park, Bubnell Cliff Farm offers magnificent views of Chatsworth Park and the rugged Baslow & Curbar Edges.

Bubnell Cliff Farm is a working dairy farm and, as tenants of the Chatsworth Estate, we have lived and worked here for the past 20 years. The farm covers 300 acres and features a herd of 80 pedigree Holstein dairy cows, a small flock of Suffolk sheep and a small herd of pedigree Longhorn cows belonging to our son Tom and his partner Katie, plus the usual cats, kittens and dogs.

House/Facilities - Bubnell Cliff Farmhouse dates back to the late Victorian period and although the house has been modernised over the years it’s high ceilings, picture rails and large rooms ensure that much of its Victorian character is retained.

Bedrooms - Guests are able to relax in our two double rooms, both rooms offer wonderful views over open countryside and are tastefully furnished and carpeted throughout.

We also have available a Cot and a Z bed if required – either of these can be easily accommodated in the Pink Room.

Dining Room/Lounge - Guests are invited to sample a hearty Derbyshire Farmhouse Breakfast served in our large Dining Room from 7.45am to 8.30am (week days) and from 8.00am to 9.00am at weekends - earlier breakfasts by prior arrangement please.

Bakewell Attractions

Outdoor life - If you enjoy the more strenuous outdoor life and fresh air there is much to do in the area.

The farm is the perfect location for ramblers walking the Heritage Way – 13 miles from Ladybower – if you want to make it a long day or 5 miles from Rowsley and 7 miles from Hathersage if you want to take it in smaller stages.

Climbers are also well catered for in the area with Stanage, Froggatt, Curbar, Baslow, Birchens and Gardoms Edges all within easy reach and offering climbs of various degrees of difficulty.

Cycling is also popular and cycles can be hired at different points in the area. The Derwent, High Peak & Tissington Trails are all within approx 25 minutes drive.

For the more adventurous the area has numerous paths and trails, which are suitable for the mountain bike enthusiast.

Horse Riders – we are able to make available stabling or a grass paddock for anyone who would like to bring their horse to Derbyshire. Overnight parking is available for horse boxes. (prior arrangement necessary)

B&B Location

The farm is approx 25 minutes from the M1 (j29) and ½ a mile from the centre of Baslow village. Chatsworth House is approx 2 miles by car or can be reached by taking a leisurely 30 minutes stroll through Chatsworth Park (easily accessed from Baslow village)
