Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Windy Ridge sits in a private garden on Wraik Hill overlooking Whitstable.

The Guesthouse is a quirky place of real charm; originally a pair of farm cottages, the house was rebuilt and extended using reclaimed timber and stone to create an unusual building of unique character.

The unusual architecture continues in the guest bedrooms giving each its own individual character. Our family rooms have a comfortable double and two single beds to ensure a good night's sleep for all.

Our double rooms all have their own unique style and range from the modest Snug to the impressive Majestic. Some of our ground floor rooms benefit from having private access to the garden and are most suitable should you have difficulty using stairs.

Both of our single rooms enjoy fantastic panoramic views over the sea and are of the same high standard as all our rooms at Windy Ridge.
Whether your stay is a weekend's bed and breakfast, an overnight stop for a business meeting, or a longer break, Windy Ridge is an ideal location. We are 10 minutes from the M2 motorway and Whitstable's restaurants, high street, and sea front are about a mile away.

Our light and airy dining room overlooks the garden and has sea views. We serve an excellent fresh breakfast using local produce as far as possible. Vegetarian options are available and we can cater for special diets too. Please let us know in advance of any special dietary requirements.

Windy Ridge is an approved premises for Weddings, Civil Partnerships and Renewal of Vows. The Gazebo in the garden is a favourite for such occasions. We also have a large function room with a bar suitable for private parties. Catering is usually tailor made for each event, but please request a sample menu.

 

Whitstable Attractions

 
Canterbury's Cathedral, Theatre, and shopping centres are approximately 10 minutes drive. Other attractions within easy reach include Leeds Castle, Howletts Zoo, nature reserves at South Swale and Oare Marshes. There are Cycle routes and walks along the Crab & Winkle line and Viking Trail as well as sailing at Whitstable, Tankerton, Seasalter and Herne Bay. Golf is available at Boughton, Canterbury, Chestfield, and of course The Open venue for 2011 at Sandwich.

Directions from the west (London):
At M2 junction 7 keep in the right hand lane signposted A299 Margate
After about 5 miles follow signs for Whitstable onto the sliproad off the dual carriageway.

Go straight on at the small roundabout that serves a new housing estate
Look out for The Long Reach pub on the right and turn right at the roundabout
Turn right at the second roundabout into Wraik Hill.

Take care it becomes a narrow country lane, Windy Ridge is on the right about half a mile along Wraik Hill
Turn right immediately after the house, down the lane alongside our garden to the car park at the rear
Come through the lytch gate, up the garden path to the entrance at the rear of the house.
