Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Tucked away on a private lane amidst glorious Peak District scenery, Underleigh House is a Bed and Breakfast of exceptional quality. This former cottage and barn, dating from 1873, has been tastefully converted and is the lovely home of Philip and Vivienne Taylor. There are five bedrooms - with en-suite WC and either shower or bath - and a large comfortable lounge where guests can relax with a drink after a day out walking.

Breakfast is served in 'house party' style around the oak refectory table in the charming beamed and stone flagged dining room. On offer is an outstanding full breakfast or a wide choice of alternatives for the smaller appetite or vegetarians. Underleigh House is the proud winner of Derbyshire Foods 'Best Breakfast' Award (2004), and winner of the East Midlands Enjoy Excellence Best Bed and Breakfast Award (2006).

Underleigh House is an entirely non-smoking establishment. Anyone opposed or allergic to cats/dogs should note there are family pets on the premises.

All five delightful bedrooms, with king-size beds, have duvets, bed linen and soft furnishings of high quality. All are en-suite with either shower or bath (with shower over). Three rooms are doubles and two are suites with their own lounge areas. One of the suites has the option of being a king-size double or a twin bedded room and has a sofa-bed in the lounge for an extra person/child. Colour television (with DVD), tea and coffee making facilities, radio alarm clock, hairdryer and many other extras are provided to enhance your stay. There is a library of DVD's for guests to use free of charge. Every room has spectacular views over the surrounding countryside.

 

Hope Valley Attractions

 
Nestling under Losehill, Underleigh is in the heart of the Peak National Park. It is in an ideal location for walkers, climbers and/ or cyclists. Easily accessible to the area's major attractions which include the show caverns and village of Castleton, the ancient 'Plague Village'of Eyam and Hathersgae with its literary connections to Jane Eyre and to Little John. The interesting towns of Matlock, Bakewell and Buxton are nearby, as are the stately homes and manor houses of Chatsworth, Lyme Hall, Haddon and Hardwick.

Underleigh is set in a quiet location off the road to Edale, about 1 mile from Hope's historic village centre. Come into the village of Hope on the A6187 (formerly A625) to the Parish Church. Opposite the church (and with the 'Old Hall' public house on the corner), take the road to Edale for about 0.6 mile (past the 'Cheshire Cheese' pub) until the derestriction road sign which marks the end of the 30mph zone. Just beyond, take the lane to the left of the facing house (at Underleigh's sign) and continue for 0.3 mile, keeping to the right all the way. Underleigh is the first property on the right and the entrance to the car park is directly before the house.
