A warm Welsh welcome awaits you at Gwrach Ynys bed and breakfast in the heart of Snowdonia.
Gwrach Ynys bed and breakfast guest house is situated in splendid open countryside of Snowdonia, nestled between the Rhinog mountains and the many sandy beaches of the Cardigan Bay. The house is surrounded by over an acre of lawned garden with mature trees, where guests can sit and relax and enjoy panoramic views from the summit of mount Snowdon in the north to Harlech Castle in the south.
Gwrach Ynys is an Edwardian Country House, originally built as a gentleman's residence at the turn of the previous century by a local farmer. The house was adapted twenty years ago, to a very high standard, to meet the aspirations of today's discerning guests while retaining all of it many original features. This process of improvement and refurbishment has been ongoing ever since.
Six of the main bedrooms are en-suite. All 7 bedrooms are on the first floor and all have scenic views over the surrounding fields to the hills in the distance. Each room has been individually furnished and decorated to the highest standard and all bedrooms are well equipped with modern facilities. |

With barely four miles between the summits of the Rhinog mountains and the sea, the area is a haven for all types of outdoors activities: hill walking, rock climbing, mountain biking, golf, watersport, fishing, horse riding, whatever you are looking for in an adventure holiday, the choice is wide.
Across the bay lies the Lleyn peninsula, and the eye sweeps north along the Nantlle Ridge, to the summit of Snowdon , and round to the Glyderau, Carneddau and the two nearer Moelwyns. Since the coastal strip is hardly a mile wide it means that most of the activities are very centralised and close at hand. A quick trip up the mountains in the morning could be followed by a swim off one of our lovely beaches in the afternoon. |

From the North.
Porthmadog to Penrhyndeudraeth, turn right in the square then left opposite railway station. Proceed across toll bridge (40p)Pont Brewit to Cilfor. Turn right on to A496.Through Talsarnau, 1/2 mile on T junction (top and coast road to Harlech) turn right. Over railway crossing, over narrow bridge to Ynys. Carry on out of Ynys for about 1/2 mile Gwrach Ynys on the right hand side. Large house surrounded by trees.
From the South.
North of Dolgellau on the A470 turn left at the large roundabout on to A470 sign posted Barmouth A496. Drive through Barmouth, Talyabont, Dyffryn Ardudwy, Llanbedr until just outside Harlech. Do not take right fork into Harlech town. Carry on along the same road down a hill past the college, under a bridge, over the railway crossing(below the castle) and out of Harlech for 2 miles. After passing the forestry plantation, which is on the left you will pass two fields also on the left then you will arrive at Gwrach Ynys on the left hand side after .
From the East.
Bala A4212 to Trawsfynydd. Turn right on to A470 and proceed to Maentwrog. Turn left on to A496 sign posted Harlech. Follow the river until you come to Talsarnau. Through Talsarnau, 1/2 mile on T junction (top and coast road to Harlech) turn right. Over railway crossing, over narrow bridge to Ynys. Carry on out of Ynys for about 1/2 mile Gwrach Ynys on the right hand side. Large house surrounded by trees.
