Bed and Breakfast Description

 

York House is situated at the edge of Hay-on-Wye with a large, south-facing garden.

All of our rooms are individually decorated and furnished to a high standard in period style and all bedrooms have easy chairs, colour TV, hospitality tray, hairdryer and alarm clock together with a selection of books. The ground-floor lounge is a peaceful room with log burner and a selection of games...an ideal place to make new friends. The dining room is on the ground floor and the bedrooms are on the first and second floors.

At York House we have plenty of private car parking and secure lockup facilities for bicycles and motorcycles. The centre of Hay with its abundance of eating and drinking facilities is an easy walk of about 5 minutes.

The garden is not 'child-proof' and in consequence we consider that the house is unsuitable for children under 7 years of age.

 

Hay-on-Wye Attractions

 
The English village of Cusop shares a common boundary with the Welsh town of Hay-on-Wye in the picturesque Wye Valley.

A short distance away is the Golden Valley which extends from Hay-on-Wye to Pontrilas, another area of outstanding natural beauty.

The National Cycle Network passes through Hay but the quiet local lanes also offer an opportunity for cyclists of all ability to enjoy the beauty of the countryside and the warmth and friendliness of the local people. Bicycles can be hired from Drover Holidays who are based in Hay.

Rambling is a very popular pastime in the locality and if you like to walk with an organised group, the Hay Walkers arrange walks on a regular basis and welcome non-members.

Typical kayak or canoe hire is available from Paddles and Pedals and for horse riders, Free Rein will organise pony trekking or more adventurous trail rides to suit all abilities.

If you are travelling from Hereford on the A438, stay on this road (ignoring the B4350) until you get to Clyro. Turn left onto the B4351 towards Hay-on-Wye. After crossing the river turn left and then take the first road on the right. At the end of this road turn left at the Give Way sign. As you leave Hay and enter England you will see a sign for Cusop Dingle on your right, do not turn into the Dingle, York House is now the second house on the right, look for the green sign with gold lettering.

If you are travelling from Hereford on the B 4348 road, York House is on the left hand side, by the second street lamp in Cusop, after you have passed the 30mph speed limit sign. Look for the green sign with gold lettering.

If you are travelling from Brecon, when you get into Hay-on-Wye, take the first road on the right after you have passed the Swan at Hay Hotel on you left, the road is signposted to Bredwardine and you will see signs for Parking and information. As you leave Hay and enter England you will see a sign for Cusop Dingle on your right, do not turn into the Dingle, York House is now the second house on the right, look for the green sign with gold lettering.
