Bed and Breakfast Description

 

4 star rated Bedford Bed & Breakfast, featuring individual en-suite bathrooms, private guest entrance and beautiful gardens with panoramic views across the Ouse Valley.

All rooms are ground floor.

Rooms are fully lockable and are accessed through a guest entrance at the back of the house (so don’t worry, no walking through the living room when you come home in the evening!)

All rooms have alarm radios, colour TV’s and tea / coffee making facilities. Milk is available from a fridge in the hallway. Other requirements can usually be met when requested (hair dryers, irons, etc)

 

Bedford Attractions

 
Walking, golf, horse riding, adventure sports, historical sites.

Palmer Sports – like high performance cars and want a chance to drive them at an autodrome? The Palmer Formula one team is based very close to the lodge and can provide a rush of adrenalin.

Bodyflight – Another one for the more adventurous. If you’ve ever wanted to try skydiving you’ll find this attraction a few minutes drive from the lodge.

Woburn Abbey – a stately home with extensive deer grounds. The grounds also encompass an extensive safari park.
 

B&B Location
 
Narly Oak Lodge is about 20 minutes from the M1 (North or South). If coming from the North exit at junction 14 and head to Bedford on the A422. If coming from the South, exit at Junction 13 and head to Bedford on the A421. Coming from Cambridge come in to Bedford on the A428 and follow it through the town center.

The map below will show you how to reach us once you get to Bedford. Most people only go astray in the last few minutes (!), so ensure you have the following directions to hand.

Take the A6 north towards Rushden and Kettering and at the first large roundabout as you leave Bedford take the 2nd turning off to Clapham Village, do not go on the bypass. On entering the village take the first turning on the right, Green Lane. If coming from the North down the A6 follow the road from Milton Ernest and then take the left hand turn off the bypass to Clapham. Come through the village, and take the last left hand turn after the Horse and Groom Inn.

You’ll enter the village on the Clapham Road. If coming from Bedford take your first turn on the right called Green Lane. If coming from the North (Bromham, Oakley, etc) then it’s the first left turn after the House and Groom pub.

Proceed up Green Lane for about half a mile, until the road forks three ways. Take the very left hand fork, called The Baulk. (If you see the club house for the golf course turn around – you went too far!)

Follow The Baulk as it twists around a mobile home called Peppercorn Park and past houses on the right. The road will now become a private road as it starts to pass through fields but is perfectly passable, just slow down J (You’ll appreciate the peace and quiet this road helps provide in a couple of short minutes).

As you crest the top of the hill, Narly Oak Lodge will appear on your left hand side. Enter at the back of the property through the wrought iron gates. There is ample parking off to your right hand side.
