Bed and Breakfast Description

The Bay Hotel is set in a unspoilt coastal location in the picturesque fishing village of Coverack near Helston in Cornwall, in an area of outstanding natural beauty with nearly every room having stunning, uninterrupted sea views across Coverack Bay.

A stone’s throw from the beach makes it ideal for meandering along the sea front or shoreline, sailing, swimming and dolphin watching.

Guests are welcomed by the House family who have over thirty years experience owning hotels such as Charlton House Hotel, Shepton Mallet, Somerset. We offer a friendly, relaxed setting in which to escape the stresses of everyday life. While away the hours in beautiful surroundings and perhaps enjoy a Cornish Cream Tea on the terrace and gaze at the sea with no traffic and no crowds to disturb you or relax with a book in the grounds or lounge.

The restaurant is praised for its varied menus, care given to special dietary requirements and the attentive but discreet service.

Each of our en-suite bedrooms have been individually styled in mellow, coastal tones. Our Bay rooms have un-interrupted sea views across Coverack Bay and our Classic Rooms have village outlooks with partial sea views. All have been designed with relaxation in mind and are well appointed with colour televisions, hospitality trays with tea and coffee making facilities and hairdryers.

Wake up after a restful night to a delicious, full Cornish Breakfast cooked to order with freshly ground coffee, choice of teas, variety of juices, cereals, yoghurts and fruits.

Open your windows to the sounds of the waves and perhaps watch the sun rise...

Helston Attractions

The Lizard Peninsula is an explorer’s paradise and as the hotel is situated on the coastal path is an ideal base for walks to discover the breathtaking scenery and glimpsed hidden away beaches and coves. The unspoilt environment also attracts those keen on photography, bird watching, star gazing and the fascinating Cornish light is always an enchantment to many a visiting artist. With no light pollution in the village, on a clear evening, the night sky is a wonder to behold and attracts many astronomers to Coverack.

The Lizard Peninsula’s southerly aspect benefits from the gulf stream and enjoys a year long mild climate famous for its flora and fauna and many plants grow here that are not found in other parts of the British Isles.

The area has a wealth of local attractions, and hosts the famous Eden Project and is also near the beautiful gardens of Trebah set in a 26 acre Cornish Ravine and rated amongst the 80 finest gardens in the world, the gardens of Tresillick with extensive riverside walks down to the open sea passing the Roundwood Iron age fort and Glendurgan gardens with warm sheltered views across the Helford River with a laurel maze and many exotic flowers.

For those who prefer a more historical interest, there is the Light house at Lizard Point, Minac Open Air theatre, St Michael’s Mount which is part Benedictine Priory, part embattled castle, believed to encompass a spiritual power at the meeting of the lay lines and the national Maritime Musuem in Falmouth which transports you into a world of small boats and Cornish maritime history.

For those that seek a more active pace, wind surfing, sailing, scuba diving and fishing enthusiasts are well catered for. There are also several excellent golf courses well worth a round providing you don’t get too easily distracted by the views!
