Bed and Breakfast Description

Velog is situated in a quite residential road just off of the busy harbour front in the pretty village of Borth-y-Gest at the gatweay to the Snowdonia National Park. We comand spectacular views of both sea and mountains just a minutes walk from the house, atop of cliffs walks with far reaching views to the mountains of Snowdonia and the Rhinoggs which backdrop Harlech and its castle.

Velog has 3 en-suite bedrooms, and the house is fully centrally heated throughout. All rooms have tvs, hospitallity trays, hairdryers, radio clock alarms. ( Ironing facilities on request).
We offer good home cooking tailored to our guests dietry needs. (If you have specific food needs to discuss this when booking so you can be catered for from your arrival).
We offer one of the warmest welcomes in Wales.

We sit at the gateway to the Snowdonia National park and just a few minutes from the famous Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland railways. Portmerrion just 1 1/2 miles by road and Mount Snowdon just 1/2 hour away.
Road and rail links are great and easy to use.
We have a no smoking policy throughout, and unfortunately we cannot take pets, and do not take children on the premises.

Porthmadog Attractions

Portmerrion - Italianate village set on the shores of the Glaslyn Estuary. Renowned for the series in the 60's of the Prisnor.

Ffestinog and Welsh Highland Railways: Travel from easter 2009 all the way from Porthmadog to Ffestiniog or from Porthmadog to Caenarfon on the narrow gauge railways following the routes of the slate trains in the 1800's. Pretty wooded valleys give way to rugged mountains.

Mount Snowdon. Tallest of the mountains in wales and a must to go up either by train or foot. Best going up on a bright clear day for spectacular views of all the countries in the uk.

Beaches at Borth-y-Gest are safe sandy beaches nestling below the cliffs. Black Rock sands one of the only local beaches that you can drive your car straight onto, with the beach so flat you can walk in the water for mtrs before you get really deep. With small fish swimming around you.

Castles of Criccieth, Harlech, Caernarfon, Beaumaris all in the local area and well worth the visit. Caernarfon Castle is where the Prince of Wales had his investiture in the 1970's.

Plenty of good wooded valley walks as well as rugged mountain terrain to tackle for the easy beginner to the well heeled professional
