Bed and Breakfast Description
Hawthorn Bed and Breakfast offers family friendly guest accommodation just 1km outside Athy, Co. Kildare. All guest bedrooms are Ensuite with power shower. Tea/coffee making facilities are available. Hawthorn B&B is child friendly with baby cot available upon request. Breakfast is served in Dining Room over looking the front garden. There is a choice of light Continental or a hearty Irish breakfast.

THINGS TO DO: FESTIVALS Gordon Bennett Motor Rally in June. Bluegrass Festival & Kildare County Show in July. Shackleton Autumn Show. RIVER BARROW & CANAL WALKS The Barrow is the second longest river in Ireland. It is navigable for 69km (45 miles) between Athy and St. Mullins, and this stretch is known as the Barrow Navigation. In Athy, the Grand Canal system links the Barrow navigation with Dublin and the Shannon. FISHING The Canal beside the angling centre of Vicarstown (only 5 miles from Athy) has Bream and Rudd, Eel, Pike and Hybrids. Further towards Athy, there are some Tench up to 6lb while the Barrow also contains some course fish along with Salmon and Brown Trout. HORSERACING Visit The Curragh, home of the Irish Derby, Punchestown for the famous Irish National Hunt Festival in April and Naas and Gowran Park have excellent facilities and all offer visitors a wonderful choice of racing. GOLF There are numerous Golf Courses located close by including Athy Golf Course, Rathsallagh, Kilkea Golf Course, The Heritage and The K-Club is approx 30 minutes away. MONDELLO MOTOR RACING Take a trip to Mondello Park near Naas, (just 20 miles from Athy), Ireland’s only international motor racing circuit. Motor sport enthusiasts can watch some of the most exciting car manufactured today race on the challenging Mondello circuit. FROM DUBLIN:
From Dublin take the N7 south towards Naas and continue on to the M7 motorway. Exit to the M9. Take the N78 exit. Turn right on the N78 and head towards Athy. We are located on the right hand side just past 50km signpost approx. 1km before Athy town.

FROM CARLOW:
Take right at traffic lights in Athy. We are located 1 mile out this road on right, just past the Texaco Filling Station.

FROM MONASTEREVIN:
Take left at traffic lights in Athy.

FROM PORTLAOISE:
When you arrive in Athy, go left at T junction, over the Barrow Bridge and straight through traffic lights in Athy.
