Bed and Breakfast Description

The Old Vicarage at Toftly View is a 5 star Bed and Breakfast set in the picturesque village of Newton upon Rawcliffe right on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.

Half hidden behind the village church, this Victorian Vicarage sits amongst mature trees with stunning views looking south towards Pickering and the Wolds.

Experience the peace of the Yorkshire countryside broken only by birdsong and the whistle of the steam train as it winds through Newton Dale.

Enjoy afternoon tea in front of the fire in the spacious sitting room or sit outside in the sunshine to admire the panoramic views.

The Old Vicarage at Toftly View has been fully restored with a blend of contemporary and traditional styles for all your needs.

All bedrooms have been extensively refurbished to include super king or king size beds and modern ensuite bathrooms with luxury fittings. LCD TV’s, DVD players, crisp white Egyptian cotton sheets, fluffy towels and bathrobes plus homemade biscuits are all standard. All these little extras and more to welcome you.

Internet access is available.

For the comfort of our guests all rooms are non smoking areas.

Tuck into our hearty Yorkshire breakfast, ranging from fresh fruits, freshly squeezed fruit juices to an array of cooked dishes. We always serve homemade bread and preserves. We use seasonal Yorkshire produce and home grown ingredients wherever possible. Special diets can be catered for on request.

Local Attractions

North Yorkshire has so much to offer. The City of York, the charming market town of Helmsley, the historic seaside town of Whitby and the North York Moors Railway all this is in easy reach. Heritage, the great outdoors or gentle sightseeing, it is all here.

Stroll through stunning countryside or take an energetic hike across the moors. For cyclists or runners there are pretty lanes to explore, and stunning views to enjoy. A short step across our paddock finds the village tennis court, open to all.

Dalby Forest offers opportunities for both walkers and cyclists as do the many paths on the open moors.
Hunt for fossils on the Dinosaur Coast or just enjoy the dramatic scenery.
The North Yorkshire Moors National Park is the perfect place to watch wildlife, explore forests, moors, and the Yorkshire coast. Sit and picnic or just watch the world go by

Visit the beautiful walled gardens in Helmsley, set against the scenic back drop of the castle ruins. Explore Castle Howard within 1,000 acres of stunning parkland. Sample Whitby's famous fish and chips and watch the boats come in.

B&B Location

As you enter Pickering, follow the signs for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. With the railway station on your left, follow the road past the fish farm, over the level crossing, and up the hill towards Newton upon Rawcliffe. Approximately 4 miles further you will reach the village; the church is on your right hand side very soon after entering the village. Turn right into the gravel driveway immediately before the church. The Old Vicarage is the first gate on the left behind the church. There is plenty of space to park outside. Welcome!
