Bed and Breakfast Description

The Allt, named after the the prominent ridge, Allt Yr Esgair, that guards the beautiful and fertile Usk Valley, is known to have been built before 1706. It has been home to a number of families since then, and seems to have been extended by each one of them in some little way, changing it from the humble cottage it once was. Its original walls are nearly 4 feet thick in places

B&B Location

From Abergavenny:
-Leave Abergavenny on the A40 signposted for Brecon
-After 6 miles pass through Crickhowell. Stay on the A40
-After a further 3 miles on the A40 climb up through Bwlch
-Now follows a 2 miles descent towards the unmarked hamlet of Llansantffraed.
When the road levels out, look for The Allt sign-board on the right.
-Turn right into the driveway which climbs up to the left.
-Cross the cattle grid and keep straight on to the car park.

From Brecon:
-Leave Brecon for the A40 signposted for Abergavenny.
-After 2.5 miles pass through Llanhamlach. Stay on the A40
-After a further 2.5 miles approach the Talybont-n-Usk turn off
Llansantffraed Church will be on your left. The entrance to The Allt is 100m round the bend.
-Turn left into the driveway which climbs up to the left.

From Talybont-on-Usk:
-Leave Talybont using Station Road, signposted for Brecon and Abergavenny
-Cross the bridge over the River Usk and climb up to the A40.
-At the A40 junction, turn right. The entrance to The Allt is 100m round the bend.
-Turn left into the driveway which climbs up to the left.
-Cross the cattle grid and keep straight on to the car park
