Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Located conveniently for access to almost all of Suffolk, our home is ideal for walking, sightseeing or just visiting the towns of Bury St Edmunds, Lavenham, Colchester, Ipswich or even a day on the coast. The village of Long Melford has two Tudor manor houses which are only a short distance from the farm house. We are situated right on the village High Street, a popular centre for antique and bespoke shops. Guest rooms in the farm house are spacious with either shower or bath facilities en suite. We offer high quality breakfasts (see sample menu here) and we can prepare evening meals by prior arrangement.

Sudbury Attractions

 
LONG MELFORD:
One of the most famous villages in England, known for it's 15th century, Tudor and Victorian buildings, wealth of antique shops and restaurants. The magnificent church dominates the village green and visitors can also enjoy Melford Hal and Kentwell Hall with its Tudor and WWII re-enactments, outdoor concerts and rare breeds farm. A local farmers' market is held in the Old School every 3rd saturday of the month

LAVENHAM:
Lavenham is described as one of the finest medieval villages in England with its historic buildings and streets. Fine Tudor townhouses mingle with small crooked cottages. It is also where Audrey Fisher was born and grew up. The song, Twinkle twinkle little star was written there in Shilling Street and the infamous 'Lovejoy' BBC television series was filled in and around the area.

SUDBURY:
Sudbury is an ancient market town dating back to Saxon times. For centuries the weaving and silk industry has prospered here and many great houses and churches have been built, giving the town a major historical legacy. Sudbury also featured in the BBC's Lovejoy series.

By Road from the South East:
From the M25, head east towards the Dartford Crossing (current toll is £1 coin). After the crossing continue north on the M25 to Junction 28 and take the A12 Chelmsford. Keep on A12 to Colchester then take the A134 to Sudbury where on the outskirts of the town you see signposts to Long Melford.

Directions from Bury St Edmunds:
From A14 Bury St Edmunds, take the exit for the A134 to Sudbury, follow for approximately 14 miles before taking the B1064 to Long Melford.

Directions from the North:
From the M11 take the A120 Gt Drunmow and Braintree road then the A131 to Sudbury and the A134 to Long Melford.
