Bed and Breakfast Description |
| |
|
Enjoy a slower pace of life with a Cornish family who have been welcoming visitors to Kerris since 1968. Sue and Geoffrey offer you accommodation at Kerris that you will want to come back to.
Turn inland from the picturesque village of Mousehole, proceed along a winding lane flanked by Cornish hedgerows and you will arrive at the ancient hamlet of Kerris, where a sense of history is tangible.
Steeped in time Kerris, "the fortified place" in the Cornish language, has been a settlement for over two thousand years, with the oldest existing building dating back to medieval times.
The oldest relics are the prehistoric roundago and celtic menhirs (standing stones) which can still be seen on the farm.
Sue and Geoffrey offer friendly, relaxed and informal accommodation. Their spacious farmhouse, built in the nineteenth century, has been lovingly restored and decorated to enhance the original features. Central heating and en suites ensure a cosy and comfortable homely environment. The farmhouse has a southerly aspect and splendid rural views. Peace, tranquility and truly dark nights for stargazing typify the Kerris experience.
Choose from two bedrooms, each very spacious and offering excellent en suite facilities, including large shower trays, power showers and heated towel rails. Beds are 5ft with pocket sprung mattresses. A third bedroom has a bathroom a short distance along the landing, and has a comfortable double bed.
Colour televisions, hairdryers and refreshment trays, along with towels, bathrobes and toiletries are provided, adding to your comfort. |

Penzance Attractions |
| |
Kerris Farm is located in the beautiful Cornish countryside of West Penwith.
Tucked away in a rural peaceful location, 10 minutes from the sea by car, yet close to the local town of Penzance with its modern amenities, Kerris Farm provides the perfect "get away from it all" location, with a multitude of beautiful and fascinating places to explore in the area: St Michael's Mount Mousehole Minack Theatre Lands End The Lizard Godrevy St Ives Scilly Islands
Kerris Farm is an ideal base for visiting the many sights of West Cornwall including Land's End, St Ives, the Minack Theatre and St Michael's Mount, being situated 2.5 miles inland from Mousehole and Newlyn.
Newlyn is a busy fishing port supplying fresh fish to many restaurants in West Cornwall. There are art galleries to visit and places to eat.
Nearby Mousehole has a picturesque harbour, and is ideal for eating having many pubs, restaurants, and fish and chips.
Further along the cost are small beaches Penberth, Porthcurno, and Porthgwarra. The famous Minack Theatre overlooks the beach at Porthcurno from the cliffs above.
Around the corner from Land's End is Sennen Cove, of ancient smuggling fame. This beach offers surfing from a mile of golden sand, with Land's End half a mile away and within walking distance.
Cape Cornwall is the only cape in England, where two seas meet, the Atlantic and the English Channel. The coastline from here round to St Ives is rugged and dramatic, steeped in the history of Cornwall's mining past.
One of the best places to see evidence of the old tin mines is at Levant, where on certain days during the season, the beam engine is fired up, and guided tours take place. (See the National Trust web site for further details).
Further around the coast is Gurnards Head, with views to the Pendeen lighthouse. |

B&B Location

From Penzance, follow the coast around to Newlyn. Past the railway station, harbour, and along the promenade. At Newlyn, take the B3315, up over Chyoone Hill. Once at the top and past the houses, drive past the turning to Paul on your left.
Now take the second road on the right signposted Kerris. Continue on this road for just over one mile. (Do not go on to any rough tracks.) When you enter Kerris our house is to the left of Kerris Manor Farm.
