Bed and Breakfast Description

We welcome you to the comfort and warmth of our spacious granite farmhouse. The peace and tranquillity of our landscaped gardens and central courtyard allow you to relax and recharge your batteries, to experience the clarity of our night skies with their twinkling stars.

The pretty hamlet of Castallack is named after the remains of a prehistoric settlement on our land and is 4 miles west of Penzance and 9 miles from Lands End, a stroll away is the lovely wooded valley of Lamorna leading to the much painted Lamorna Cove.

At Castallack we breed Ryeland sheep on 35 acres of fertile Cornish land that has been farmed for centuries. Others include Chico our guard llama who protects the growing lambs from foxes, geese, horses and free range chickens. We endeavour to maintain an environmentally friendly relationship with our accommodation and land.

DINING ROOM / LOUNGE
A large comfortable room overlooking the pretty courtyard and pond to the front with French doors to the rear overlooking the garden.

Relax in the courtyard and watch the swallows or lounge in the garden with views over the surrounding countryside.

For the comfort of all concerned we operate a no smoking policy.

THE BOWJY
A private suite of rooms on the first floor overlooking the courtyard and surrounding countryside is accessed by its own external flight of granite steps.
Perfect for a romantic break as it has a luxurious king size four poster bed, comfy sofa, chairs, remote control TV and DVD player and its own ironing facilities.

DOUBLE ROOM
This cosy bedroom on the ground floor overlooking the courtyard has a really comfy double bed and en-suite shower room with a double shower, toilet , basin and shaver socket. Wine glasses and corkscrew are provided together with a jug of fresh milk for beverages made in your room.

TWIN ROOM
This cosy room also on the ground floor has all the facilities of our double room, except for twin beds and a regular size power shower.

Penzance Attractions

Between Lamorna Cove and the lovely old fishing village of Mousehole lies the tiny rural hamlet of Castallack set amidst the unspoilt and tranquil countryside of the Lands End Peninsula.

Offering the closeness of the magnificent South West Coastal path , wonderful beaches and wild scenery yet close to the cafes, shops, restaurants and galleries of Newlyn, Penzance and St Ives.

Newlyn with its busy fishing harbour is great to explore, the bustling market town of Penzance has some very good restaurants and St Ives has a glorious harbour and seafront. The renowned Minack Theatre is within a few miles and offers the most glorious views.

The peace & tranquillity of the surrounding countryside is intoxicating. This peninsular is steeped in Celtic history with many prehistoric sites , delightful sandy beaches and footpaths just waiting to be explored .
We provide information on the many things to do and see whilst you are staying with us , here are some of them:-
Stroll down to our local pub ‘The Lamorna Wink’ (lunchtime) food only , then carry on to see Lamorna Cove opening out in front of you , stunning & dramatic in any weather, attracting many artists both past & present.
Leave the farm in the other direction to walk 11/2 miles through delightful countryside to the lovely harbour village of Mousehole or walk via the coast path.

Some of the most spectacular beaches in Cornwall are nearby , Whitesand Bay at Sennen , Porthcurno & the St Ives beaches , all fantastic for swimming , surfing or lounging and stunning at any time of the year.
Penberth , Porthgwarra & many more rocky , clear watered coves exude the romance & history of their past.
Don’t miss a visit to Godrevy to see the seals!

Thanks to our unique climate , many of the lovliest gardens of the UK are situated in West Cornwall, large & famous such as the Lost Gardens of Heligan , The Eden Project & the fabulous Tresco Abbey gardens on the Scilly Isles a boat or helicopter trip away.

B&B Location

In Penzance take the promenade road, with the sea on your immediate left, towards NEWLYN.

Immediately after crossing the small bridge at the beginning of NEWLYN, cross the road and take the road straight ahead that is signposted PORTHCURNO, LAMORNA and PAUL. This is the B3315.

Continue to the top of the hill and carry on through SHEFFIELD and after about a quarter of a mile take the left fork signed CASTALLACK, RAGINNIS and MOUSEHOLE.

Do not turn off this road! After about half a mile you will come to a sharp right hand bend with a sign in the hedge that reads LAMORNA VIA CASTALLACK, carry on for about another half a mile and you will come to CASTALLACK (no sign) and CASTALLACK FARM is the only property on the right hand side of the road.
